Summary: Trusting and hoping in God

There comes a time in an individual’s life when they must come to a conclusion of what is real and what is fantasy. Some people believe their whole lives that they are going to be famous, make lots of money and be accepted by everyone, some believe that they are the cream of the crop and others believe that life completely revolves around them but very few believe in the God of heaven for the impossible and cause a separation in the home, within family and even try to cause confusion in the church. The responsibility of the Christian is a lot heavier then they think and a lot more serious then what they believe. See beloved many people in the church today think that they must be in ministry or so type of ordained position to begin to help the church grow and/or bring folks to church yet the bible tells us differently. This morning I pray that this sermon will challenge you and help you understand the Great Commission bestowed before us.

An atheist was walking through the woods.

'What majestic trees!

'What powerful rivers!

'What beautiful animals!

He said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river,he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him.

He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.

He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer.

He tripped & fell on the ground.

He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.

At that instant the Atheist cried out,

'Oh my God!'

Time Stopped.

The bear froze.

The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky.

'You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.

Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament?

Am I to count you as a believer? 'The atheist looked directly into the light, 'It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian?'

'Very well,' said the voice.

The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:

'Lord bless this food to my body, and me unto your service. Amen.'

As funny as this may sound beloved we can be as this Atheist in many ways knowing God yet denying His power.

2 Timothy 2:19 (NKJV)

19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

1st Point “Solid Foundation”

I was amazed to read that the foundation of the sears tower in Chicago runs more than 200 feet deep into the ground and this is what stabilizes the tower and keeps it from falling no matter what condition the weather is in and as such God wants us to have this firm solid foundation of His words embedded deep in the core of our hearts so no matter what circumstance we are in we will stand.

In our scripture Paul is writing to His disciple Timothy and informing Him of many things to expect and not to be alarmed in a way that it shakes His foundation in what he believes.

1 Corinthians 3:11

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

This morning beloved I want to bring to you a word of truth that will allow you to

understand truth with God’s word and in His Spirit. Paul was speaking to His disciple Timothy and reassuring him that the solid foundation that was laid still stands and will not be moved nor shaken. The bible quickly gives us a hope in knowing that God has a seal upon those who are His. He knows His children.

So what is a foundation, in definition: an underlying basis or principle for something: the action of establishing an institution or organization on a permanent basis, especially with an endowment.

Solid: firm and stable in shape; not liquid or fluid: 2. not hollow or containing spaces or gaps: "a sculpture made out of solid rock" 3.dependable; reliable

Beloved Jesus laid down the foundation when He laid down His life for you and I, He gave us a blue print to follow that still stands over 2000 years and has never changed for his promise was told to us in his word in:
