Summary: Asa cried unto the LORD

2 Chronicles 14:9-15

11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. 12 So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

1. God's Power is undiminished and undiminishable. -

11 Lord, it is nothing with Thee to help

Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

2. God's Power is unlimited and unlimitable. -

"Whether with many, or with them that have no power".

So the human circumstances do not limit the mighty power of God.

2 Kings 6:15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

3. God's Power is impregnable. "We rest on Thee".

Not in his own strategy or cleverness, but on the impregnable foundation of God's power.

Habakkuk 3:17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

4. God's Power is associated with human activity.

"In Thy Name we go against this multitude, O Lord".

Psalm 20:5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

Psalm 34:22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

5. God's Power is available only by prayer. "Asa cried unto the Lord his God".

(a) Asa had a proper relationship. - "He cried unto the Lord his God".

(b) Asa had proper confidence. He said, "The Lord his God".

(c) Asa had a proper intensity, he cried.

(d) Asa had a proper petition. What did he say? He said, "Lord, help us".

(e) Asa had a proper aim in prayer. - let not man prevail against Thee
