Summary: Our hearts may be heavy, but we still have hope.

ATTACK ON AMERICA

STRIPPED, WOUNDED, AND LEFT FOR DEAD

(Luke 10:30-35) And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. (KJV)

I. THE LIFE THAT WAS IN DISTRESS.

A. WHO WAS IN DISTRESS.

“A certain man.”

1. How personal was the hurt this man received.

a. It was someone’s son.

b. It may have been someone’s sweetheart.

2. How pointless was the hurt this man received.

B. WHAT HE SOON DISCOVERED.

1. He was dying.

2. He was defenseless. (Nothing he could do.)

[All this can be said about the many thousands who lost their

lives in the attack on America]

II. THE LEADERS THAT WERE DIABOLICAL

Like the thieves in this parable…

A. THEY HAD NO RESPECT FOR GOD’S LAW.

1. They set their own rules

2. They were selfish and ruthless.

B. THEY HAD NO REGARDS FOR HUMAN LIFE.

1. They didn’t care who they slaughter.

2. They didn’t care how much these people had to suffer.

III. THE LOVE THAT HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED

[Like the Good Samaritan, many Americans have responded]

A. THEY HAVE GONE TO THE SCENE.

1. Their hearts are heavy…

2. But they have hope.

B. THEY ARE WILLING TO GO THE SECOND MILE.

[Pledging more]

1. The time they are prepared to give.

2. The trouble they are prepared to encounter.

I am proud to be an American and my prayers are with everyone. Don’t give up hope.
