VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. So that we will not grow disinterested and become sluggards

"In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards,"

Slothful, sluggish or lazy came from the Greek word: "nothros" meaning slow, sluggish, indolent, dull, languid. It's impossible to be lazy if we keep our diligence until the end.

Proverbs 12:24 (Amplified Bible)

12:24 The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor.

Romans 12:11 (Amplified Bible)

12:11 Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

Hebrews 5:11 (Amplified Bible)

5:11 Concerning this we have much to say which is hard to explain, since you have become dull in your [spiritual] hearing and sluggish [even slothful in achieving spiritual insight].

2 Peter 1:10 (Amplified Bible)

1:10 Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.

Laziness has a source, if you're lazy, it's because you lack understanding of GOD's WORD. GOD's WORD is JESUS CHRIST. Grow in understanding the LORD JESUS thru His WORDS and you will never be lazy again.
