Summary: When are you alone with God?

Being alone with God

Good morning everyone. Have you ever asked yourself why can’t I find out what God wants for me ? Is He listening? Why don’t I ever hear things from God? I have said some of them myself at different times in my life . When you ask yourself that, what are you doing at that time. Are you cooking the evening meal, are you driving down the road and listening to the radio? Are you saying that in church and yet also doodling on the flyer that has todays outline on it? What I’m getting at is are you alone with God when you ask that . Are you alone with God? That is a good question , truly we are never alone when we have God but I mean are you alone when you talk with God . When you seek Him are you alone . Do you have a special room at your house that you can go to and no one else can bother you when you talk to God. Most of us can’t have a sanctuary built onto the side of our house but there are places in every house that you can be alone with Him . There are also places outside your house that you can be alone with Him . Drive to a park and read your Bible and be alone with God. This whole idea of being alone with God is not new . By any means it all started when God first created us . He wanted and knew the importance of being alone with Him . When God had finished creating the Earth and all that was in it He created man . Adam , was the first and for a reason , he had a job to do . He would seek the Lord and God gave Adam his will for him . God gave Adam 2 things for him to do . Genesis 2:15 says " 15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. KJV" and verse 19-20 " 19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. KJV" Adams purpose at that time from God was to till the ground in the garden and to name all of God’s creatures . After he had done this God laid Adam down and took his rib out and made Eve . Eve was his spouse , his helper , his companion. Adam had to do what he did alone but it paved the way for them both and the rest of us. Later on Joseph was thrown down a well by his brothers , sold unto slavery , and put in prison but he would still seek the will of God . As we know later on he becomes like the Pharaoh’s beloved and is able to set aside land in Egypt for the tribes of Israel to stay , together , until the coming of Moses. Genesis 45:7 said " 7 God sent me before you to preserve you a remnant in the earth, and to save you alive by a great deliverance. 8 So now it wasn’t you who sent me here, but God, and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt. " When we seek the Lord to do His will we might have to do it alone . Jesus had to when He went into the wilderness for those 40 days. That is when He not only would seek the will of Father but also was tested . Afterwards when Jesus was picking out His 12 disciples they all had to leave there homes and there lives to fallow Him and to do His will. Peter , Paul, James , and John were all alone when they went to spread the new testament of Jesus the Christ . All these times they were alone but Father ,remember, made Eve to be with Adam . They had to do the will of God alone but they lived with their family . Like when they were paired up in 2’s to go out and spread the word they were alone in that they were not with their wives but not alone in that they had a companion who was with them to help each other out . Their church family for some there family , family for others . For Paul it was a church family and his own were with him at times but also a lot of time alone in prison and shipwrecked he spent seeking God’s will .When we do the will for what God has for us we may have to be alone to get it and to do it but we are never alone ,for one, we are never alone when we have Jesus, and two ,we are never alone for all in the body of Christ are our brothers and sisters. We are a part of this huge family and will never be alone. We are not to live alone , but sometimes be alone when we seek God and His will for us. Adam wasn’t left to be alone he needed someone with him. Jesus wasn’t to live alone, He had the disciples as His family ,Noah wasn’t to live alone that’s why he was able to take his family with him.
