Being In The Potter's Hand

Summary: Many times we say that we trust God, and for Him to have his way with us. But the question is do you really trust him. We are created in his image, and He knows exactly what He is creating us. The lesson is we must yield to the Potter and let Him have
Being in the Potter’s Hand – Jeremiah 8:3-6
3) So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4) But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. 5) Then the word of the Lord came to me; 6) “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?” declares the lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

THOU ART THE POTTER, I AM THE CLAY
MOLD ME AND MAKE ME, AFTER THY WILL
WHILE I AM WAITING, YIELDED AND STILL
Intro:
This old hymn that we sing, Have thine own way Lord. Are we truly allowing the Lord to have his way in our life? How many of us are like the story of this fellow who rode in his car as it was being towed to be repaired. When they arrived at the repair shop, the tow truck driver told him, "I didn't think I was going to make it up that big hill." The man replied, "I didn't either. That's why I kept the brakes on so we wouldn't roll backwards." To live without total dedication to Christ is the same as trying to go forward and to hold back at the same time.
A) The Potter
a) God is the potter
i) Genesis 1 – In the beginning God created
b) We must yield to and trust the potter
c) God has the vision of what he is crafting
B) The Clay
a) Positioned to be formed into something useful
b) We are influenced by the circumstances around us
c) God is molding us into his image as in the beginning
i) Genesis 1: 26 - 27
C) The Vessel
a) When we become marred, God reshapes us into a new vessel
b) Our marred vessel must die in order to be reborn again.
c) We are a new creation in Christ
Conclusion:
Our walk in life as a Christian is the model of us allowing God, the great potter to form and reform us. For by His hands we are wonderfully and beautifully made. We must remember that Jesus is the Potter, we are just the clay. Our father knows what is best for us. At times we may question God’s design that he has placed in our lives. But remember one thing, that God doesn’t make mistakes. We may not understand what or how things may work out, but just leave it in the masters’ hand.
