Isaiah 54:14 (Amplified Bible)

A. Righteousness means:

1. Rightness

2. Purity of heart and rectitude of life

3. Conformity of heart and life to the Divine Law

4. Equivalent to holiness, comprehending holy principles and affections of heart, and conformity of life to the divine law

5. Applied to God, the perfection or holiness of his nature; exact rectitude; faithfulness.

6. Active and passive obedience of Christ, by which the law of God is fulfilled

B. It's not based on ourselves, or our own human self-effort, but on JESUS CHRIST.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is our Righteousness:

Jeremiah 23:6 (Amplified Bible)

1. Righteousness delivers us from death

2. Righteousness makes a straight way for us

11:5 The righteousness of the blameless shall rectify and make plain their way and keep it straight, but the wicked shall fall by their own wickedness.
