Is there anyone better than Solomon?

To show that JESUS CHRIST is better than Solomon.

IV. TEXT:

1 Kings 4:29 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.

V. THESIS:

CHRIST is much better than Solomon so we're better than King Solomon because of CHRIST in us.

VI. TITLE:

Better than Solomon

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. 1 Kings - second in a series of three double books: 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, and 1 & 2 Chronicles, originally they were single books Samuel, Kings and Chronicles, the Septuagint translators made the division

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. His wisdom is very great

1. Wisdom came from the Hebrew word:"chokmah" meaning good sense, skillful and Understanding came from the Hebrew word:"tabun" meaning intelligence, discretion, reason, skillfulness, understanding, wisdom.

2. But in James 1:5, wisdom came from the Greek word:"sophia" meaning wisdom (higher or lower, worldly or spiritual) wisdom, that is what's available to anyone who is a believer in the New Covenant of Grace, pure wisdom not just good sense or skillful, but it covers all.

B. His understanding, no one can equal

1. Given to him by the LORD (Luke 11:31, Matthew 12:42, 1 Kings 10)

Yes, King Solomon's wisdom is very great and his understanding no one can equal but his wisdom is wordly wisdom. Whoever is born of CHRIST, or whoever accepted the LORD JESUS CHRIST as LORD, MASTER, GOD and SAVIOR is greater than King Solomon because what we have is Heavenly wisdom and we have the mind of CHRIST. King Solomon took him a lot of animal sacrifices to get GOD's attention but in the New Covenant of Grace, we can ask the LORD anytime for Heavenly wisdom and not worldly wisdom since we already have the Perfect Sacrifice within us, that is the LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Perfect Lamb of GOD.

James 1:5 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

IX. CONCLUSION:

King Solomon is wise indeed but never became faithful to GOD, but the LORD JESUS CHRIST is wise and faithful and He's inside of us, and we have His mind.
