1 John 5:13—15
INTRODUCTION
The entirety of 1 John chapter five deals with faith in Christ. These verses bring to remembrance the extent of God’s love for us in what he has provided for us. God has promised eternal life through His Son and the ability to speak to Him through His Son to ask whatever we need.
MAIN BODY
I. Believing in the Name of Jesus (1 John 5:13)
A. Those who Believe have Eternal Life
1. John 3:16
2. Romans 1:16—17
B. Believing in the name of Jesus requires believing in ALL that the name stands for.
1. 1 John 3:23—34
2. John 14:15
II. Christians may boldly approach God. (1 John 5:14)
A. Since we have the Promise of Eternal Life from God, we also have confidence to speak to Him.
2. 1 John 3:21—22
B. God hears whatever we ask according to His will
1. Matthew 7:7—12
2. Mark 11:24
III. We will have whatever we ask (1 John 5:15)
A. God hears the prayers of His Children. (1 Peter 3:12)
B. Christ in heaven intercedes on our behalf.
