Summary: We need to let (Point at Chest) this clay jar, this outer shell. this fleshly nature. our will to be broken. And when you do your life will be filled to overflowing with the sweet perfume of the Holy Spirit.

Are you waiting on God...? Or is God .... waiting on you?

We have all heard Christians say: .... I'm just waiting on God ... I'm just waiting ... for my breakthrough.

And Others...I don't know what God wants me to do.

I haven't heard anything from him.... for the last six years.

Well ... did you do what God asked you to do .... six years ago? (Pause)

Beloved .... The gift of the Holy Spirit is an anointing ...... An anointing ... so that we may experience God's presence continually ... in our lives.

It is important, .... It is imperative .... to have the anointing of God.... the presence of God ....in your life. (Pause)

Now...The word "anoint" means ... to smear ...... or to rub something...... all over ... an object... to cover the object completely.

And when we are anointed with the Holy Spirit; ... We are covered ... we are rubbed .... we are smeared all over .... with God's presence.

And when you are anointed with the Holy Spirit, .... there will be something about you ... that is noticeably different.

And the more you yield to that anointing .... the more others notice ...... the difference.

Yet most non followers of the Christ .... if any at all .... will not know .... what it is.

They do not understand ... or cannot understand ... what caused the change.

They cannot put their finger on it.

Why...? Why the change? ...

The Scriptures assure us ... that when you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior .... that you are .... a new creation ... a new creation ... in Christ Jesus.

(Slow) .... The old is gone.

So, .... What happens when you are anointed ... with the Holy Spirit?

Well.... You begin to see radical favor in your life.

God will open doors for you .... Doors .... that you could not possibly open .... on your own.

Now .... In one way .... the anointing is a free gift of God that you receive ... in His grace ....... In His mercy.

But on the other hand .... there is a price to pay ... for that anointing.

John's first epistle helps us to see this more clearly.

Hear God's Word. BIBLE " You have been anointed by the Holy One, ... and All of you have knowledge." END (1 John 2:20)

It does not say that someday you will be anointed .... Someday ... if you try real hard .... it says ......you "have been" anointed.

You have been given unction ... from the Holy One.

And ... all of you ... have received knowledge.

You know the truth.

The Scriptures state...... "you know all things."

Let's look a little further in the Chapter .... at verse 27: BIBLE "But as for you, the anointing .... the sacred appointment .... the unction which you received from him .... abides .... permanently in you." END (1 John 2:27 AMPC)

The Holy Spirit is in you. ...... If you been born again.

God's presence ... is in, you.

And he abides in you .... How long? ... Permanently. ...... And .... He will not leave you.... Or forsake you.

We are a new creation ... in Christ Jesus.

You are led by the promptings, ... by the gentle promptings & urges .... by the leadership .... of the Holy Spirit.

You are led by the anointing ... that lies within you.

And ... with this anointing ...You will experience peace.

A peace that passes all understanding.

And...with the anointing .... you will know joy.

And when you yield to the anointing ... when you yield to the Holy Spirit:

You will receive the urging from the Spirit ... to do the right thing ... to do .... the wise thing.

You will begin to make choices that are no longer being led by your feelings .... That will no longer be led by ... your emotions.

You will not do ... the emotional thing.

You will do.... (Slow) .... the wise thing. (Pause)

So if it is a gift .... how can I say ... that there is a price to pay ... for this anointing?

The scriptures tell us in both John's and Mark's Gospel ... that Jesus came to the town of Bethany, ....... to the Home of Lazarus ... whom he raised from the dead.

There Mary came to Jesus with the alabaster jar.

Now this jar is filled with nard .... an extremely expensive ... sweet perfume?

Worth 300 Denarii ... the yearly income of most families at that time.

So...What did she do?

Mark tells us ... that she ... Mary .... broke open the jar.

She broke the jar .... and then ... the sweet perfume... poured out.
