Summary: Everyone is concerned about time and making sure that our time is not wasted. More activity doesn't mean that you are more productive only a lot more sweaty.

Proverbs 23:4 (NASB)

4 Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, Cease from your consideration of it. 5 When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens. Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the Lord always. 18 Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off. 26 Give me your heart, my son, And let your eyes delight in my ways.

Proverbs 24 (NASB)

1 Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them; 2 For their minds devise violence, And their lips talk of trouble. 3 By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; 4 And by knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches. 5 A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power.

Proverbs 27 (NASB)

23 Know well the condition of your flocks, And pay attention to your herds; 24 For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generations. 25 When the grass disappears, the new growth is seen, And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in, 26 The lambs will be for your clothing, And the goats will bring the price of a field, 27 And there will be goats’ milk enough for your food, For the food of your household, And sustenance for your maidens.

Busyness is Bad for Business

The book of Proverbs is designed to offer a practical guideline for a lifestyle of Godly obedience. It is a primer on how to live and what actions and attitudes to refrain from. It provides a "RULE OF THUMB" for a balanced and spiritually healthy life. Today we will discuss how to guard against unfruitful BUSYNESS.

BUSYNESS is bad BUSINESS because it kills:

1. PRODUCTIVITY

2. PURPOSE

3. PEOPLE

4. PASSION

“It’ll be faster if I just do it myself.”

“I like being busy.”

How to IDENTIFY unfruitful Busyness:

Ask yourself: Why am I so Busy?

1. What are my MOTIVES?

a. Busyness can be a camouflage for LAZINESS

b. Business can be the excuse for GREED

2. What are my PRIORITIES?

Let's ask 3 questions:

a. Do you spend dedicated time every day to the WORD and PRAYER?

b. Do you talk about personal spiritual THINGS with spiritual PEOPLE?

c. Does your schedule include time for PEOPLE who need your time?

4 FIRSTS to Balance the Business of Busyness:

1. First thing every day have quiet devotions.

2. First day of the week be in the Lord's house.

3. First person you speak to needs your attention.

4. First priority is to WORK then REST.
