BY HIS STRIPES-X—Isaiah 52:13—53:12

OR: God’s Remedy For Sin

Attention:

Locking The Door:

Comedian(secular) Elayne Boosler says—

“I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.”

There is a foolproof remedy for keeping your door locked!

Likewise, God has provided the only foolproof remedy for sin...Jesus, His only-begotten Son, His Servant!

Background:

~700 years prior to the Cross of Christ Jesus, Isaiah prophesied of the substitutionary atonement which would one day come thru God’s “Servant”(52:13a). Isaiah records details of the coming Servant’s willing sacrifice for the sake of all sinners.

The prophet Isaiah declared a future time when God’s unique Servant would provide the remedy for sin.

Jesus is God’s remedy for sin.

Why/How/When is Jesus God’s remedy for sin?

Our reception of Jesus as God’s remedy for personal sin.

‘RECEIVE’—More than mental acceptance, which only makes possibilities plausible. ‘Receiving’ on the other hand, has to do with acceptance by the heart, so that what is received, is taken to the point of actual reliance upon that which is received or in a Christian context, Who is received.

Jn. 1:10-13—“He[Jesus, The Word] was in the world, & the world was made through Him, & the world did not know Him. He came to His own, & His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

DECLARATION(53:8)

Explanation:(53:8)Message

53:8—“He was taken from prison & from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.”

When I use this term DECLARATION, the intent is not necessarily limited to verbal declaration, but rather is declared in multiple ways.

“He was taken from prison & from judgment,

cf.-Acts 8:32-35—The Ethiopian man to Philip—The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.” So the eunuch answered Philip & said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” Then Philip opened his mouth, & beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.”

‘Coercion’/“humiliation” is one way to perceive “prison/oppression.” It is an attempt to force compliance from those who refuse to comply with what is considered acceptable & ‘common’ in a culture.

The Servant, Jesus was mistreated & tormented at the hands of others who wanted ‘their’ will imposed upon Him.

The measures employed thru such threatenings & forced persuasions would describe His being forcibly “taken from” “prison & judgment” by unscrupulous men. They would be more than ready to misuse their political systems toward individual abuse. The Servant’s opposers would make the ‘court system’ meet their personal desire for vengeance, exposing it’s lack of blind/unprejudiced/unbiased justice. The rulers & their rulings furnished a ‘kangaroo court’ against Jesus.

In order to have true judgment & thus true ‘justice’, there must be a standard by which judgment & ‘justice’ is determined. That ‘standard’ can only be rightly measured & determined by & thru God!

Mat. 26:14-16—“Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests & said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.”

Mat. 26:47-50—“And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords & clubs, came from the chief priests & elders of the people. Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” Immediately he went up to Jesus & said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” & kissed Him. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came & laid hands on Jesus & took Him.”

Jn. 18:12—“Then the detachment of troops & the captain & the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus & bound Him.”

Jn. 18:19-24, 28—“The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples & His doctrine. Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues & in the temple, where the Jews always meet, & in secret I have said nothing. Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.” And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Do You answer the high priest like that?” Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?” Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.”.....“Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, & it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.”
