Summary: Message #1 in series, "Pursuing Victory." Three reasons to celebrate Jesus’ victory on the cross.

Series: Pursuing Victory

Message #1: ""Celebrating the Victory of the Cross""

1 Corinthians 15:56-57 - "The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

SOME OBSERVATIONS FROM LEVITICUS 16, JOHN 19, AND HEBREWS 10...

1) Jesus Was Our Scapegoat.

Lev.16:21 - "Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and he shall lay them on the head of the goat and send (it) away..."

2) Jesus Was Also Our Sacrifice.

Heb.10:10 - "By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."

3) And Jesus Is Our High Priest.

Heb.10:12 - "but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,"

THREE REASONS TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORY OF THE CROSS...

1) Our Father Presented Us a Picture of His Love.

Jn.3:16 - "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

Rm.5:8 - "For God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

2) Jesus Paid the Price For Our Redemption.

1Pet.1:18-19 - "...you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ."

3) God Offers Us His Pardon and Redemption.

2Cor.5:21 - "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God."

BRINGING IT HOME...

Questions to ask myself:

>Have I accepted by faith that Jesus is God the

Father’s only prescribed plan for how I can enter into the kingdom of God?

>Have I let His blood be applied to my life?

>Have I allowed Him to set me free, by accepting His full payment on my behalf?

>If not, am I willing to come to Jesus and receive Him by faith now?

>If I have already received Him, am I proclaiming His good news message to others?
