Series: Action [#66]

CHAOS

Acts 19:21-41

Introduction:

The Devil loves chaos; but God does not. Our text tells us about a protest that happened in Ephesus. The enemy used this protest to create chaos; and he is still doing that today. Protests are going on all around us. Black Lives Matter have had many protests, (turned into riots). There have been protests after protests and what has changed? A NFL Coach said something last year that makes a lot of sense. “Your responsibility is to take action. I don’t know that protest is an action. I think each guy has a personal thing. I would beg them to take action, find a cause and either support it financially or do something to change the situation, because protesting doesn’t do anything in my opinion. I’ve been seeing it since 1968.”

1 Corinthians 14:33

God is a God of peace and God’s people should be people of peace. Christians must not allow the enemy to throw us into chaos and lose sight of what matters. When we understand how Satan causes confusion, we can be ready for his attacks. Satan has not changed his methods.

Acts 19:21-27

The protest is about…

1. Money.

Demetrius was getting ready to lose a ton of money. He was making money from selling silver statues of their god Artemis, and he didn’t want to lose that. He also got others in the community to get upset about this.

Money has been a key factor in the COVID-19 response. The vaccination is making certain people a lot of money. The COVID vaccination is being used as an emergency use vaccination which means it hasn’t been FDA approved. The only way a vaccination can be used as emergency use is if there are no other options. There are other options such as hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin; but those benefiting from the vaccination are killing the idea. It seems that all of the decisions are based upon how they financially help certain people.

Acts 19:28-34

The protest is about…

2. Power.

The angry crowd grabbed a couple of Christians and were going to punish them. The people were shouting, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians”. Things were getting out of control. The assembly didn’t know what was going on or what to do about it. Most of the people who were protesting and going crazy did not even know why they were there. They were just going along with everyone else.

States, like New Mexico, are governed by people who want as much power as possible. We can see that in all of the mask rules again. The Governor is not just testing unvaccinated employees weekly; but is going to test Private School employees. How does that work? She is not over Private Schools. The power grab by our Government is no different than the one in our text. There are many people seeking power or being around people that have power.

Acts 19:35-41

The protest is about…

3. Politics.

The City Clerk calmed the crowd down by telling them to go through the legal system. Now, that is not necessarily a bad thing; but when the Government controls how people are treated, there are usually some issues.

Many people have called me a conspiracy theorist through this entire ordeal; but I have been right every time. COVID has been political from day 1. Do not misunderstand me, COVID is real. People are getting very sick and people are dying from COVID; but the same has happened with the Flu and many other sicknesses and the Government did not react the way they are now concerning COVID.

Conclusion:

Many people are probably thinking, “He used this sermon to vent all of his complaints about COVID”. I have shared my concerns; but now is the time for you to hear the solution to this chaos- It’s Jesus.

Things to consider when dealing with chaos:

* Help your spiritual leaders from putting themselves in danger unnecessarily.

* Remember your Christian call.

* Love those in your community, even when they are following the wrong people.
