But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them],

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Disown means to deny as one's own.

A. If we are faithless

"If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him],"

John 16:8-9 (Amplified Bible)

And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment:

About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me];

We should know by now that sin is not murder, not robbery or raping another. But sin in the Bible, is not you have not received CHRIST JESUS as your own LORD, MASTER and SAVIOR. In essence, you are saying to yourself, you can save yourself from hell and you don't need GOD's Love - that is, CHRIST JESUS given to us.

Hebrews 3:12 (Amplified Bible)

[Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.

Being wicked to the Christian lingo is not having faith, which then digress to staying away from GOD.

Hebrews 4:11 (Amplified Bible)

Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].

B. He will remain Faithful

"He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character),"

2 Thessalonians 3:3 (Amplified Bible)

Yet the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen [you] and set you on a firm foundation and guard you from the evil [one].

Hebrews 2:17 (Amplified Bible)

So it is evident that it was essential that He be made like His brethren in every respect, in order that He might become a merciful (sympathetic) and faithful High Priest in the things related to God, to make atonement and propitiation for the people’s sins.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is our Faithful High Priest who understands everything we have to do and undergone and yet still helps us in our time of need.

Hebrews 10:23 (Amplified Bible)

So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.

C. He cannot disown Himself

"for He cannot deny Himself"

1. We are CHRIST's body and He's the Head of the Church

Ephesians 1:22-23 (Amplified Bible)

And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],

Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].

CHRIST completes us, without the Head we are all nothing. The Body gets its instructions from the Head.

2. We are like CHRIST in this world, one with His Spirit

BECAUSE AS HE IS, SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD

1 John 4:17 (Amplified Bible)

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

OUR SPIRIT IS ONE AND THE SAME AS CHRIST's SPIRIT.
