VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. CHRIST is waiting
"Then to wait"
The word "wait" or "expecting" came from the Greek word:"ekdechomai" meaning:
1. to receive, accept
2. to look for, expect, wait for, await
GOD has commanded for us to wait for CHRIST's coming, also CHRIST our Saviour is waiting for this event.
James 5:7 (Amplified Bible)
5:7 So be patient, brethren, [as you wait] till the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land. [See how] he keeps up his patient [vigil] over it until it receives the early and late rains.
1 Peter 3:20 (Amplified Bible)
3:20 [The souls of those] who long before in the days of Noah had been disobedient, when God’s patience waited during the building of the ark in which a few [people], actually eight in number, were saved through water.
Waiting upon the LORD is a gift from the LORD that enables us to receive from Him.
Our waiting is combined with hope and expectancy from the LORD:
Psalms 27:14 (Amplified Bible)
27:14 Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
Waiting in the LORD is combined with stillness and resting in the LORD, leaning upon Him:
Psalms 37:7 (Amplified Bible)
37:7 Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
Our waiting in the LORD is combined with expectancy, keeping and heeding His ways, then promotion will come.
Psalms 37:34 (Amplified Bible)
37:34 Wait for and expect the Lord and keep and heed His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land; [in the end] when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
There are two kinds of people in one's life— people whom one keeps waiting and the people for whom one waits. —S. N. Behrman
