Summary: GOD WANTS TO COMFORT YOU.

COMFORT

OBSERVATION: MANY OF THE PSALMS MAKE PREDICTIONS ABOUT GOD’S PROMISED MESSIAH, JESUS CHRIST. DAVID PENNED ABOUT HALF OF THE PSALMS. OTHERS ALSO CONTRIBUTED SUCH AS ASAPH, THE SONS OF KORAH, SOLOMON, MOSES, EZRA’S DISCIPLES HEMAN AND ETHAN. SOME PSALMS NAME NO AUTHORS.

INTERPRETATION: PSALMS 119: 50 (NKJV) THIS IS MY COMFORT IN MY AFFLICTION, FOR YOUR WORD HAS GIVEN ME LIFE.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

IT IS ENCOURAGING TO KNOW AND BELIEVE THAT GOD REMEMBERS HIS PEOPLE. THE WORD REMEMBER, MEANS HE PAYS ATTENTION AND WORKS ON YOUR BEHALF. BEING OMNISCIENT (ALL KNOWING) HE WILL NOT FORGET YOUR LIFE ISSUES: HE WANTS GOOD FOR HIS PEOPLE.

IF YOU TRUST GOD, THE TRIALS OF LIFE WILL WORK FOR YOU, LEADING TO GLORY. DAVID’S AGING DID NOT DIMINISH HIS DESIRE TO BE A SERVANT OF GOD REGARDLESS OF HIS AGE. SOME SCHOLARS SUGGEST HE WROTE THIS PSALM AT AGE 85.

APPLICATION: PSALM 86:17 (THE BOOK-PARAPHRASE) SEND ME A SIGN OF YOUR FAVOR. THEN THOSE WHO HATE ME WILL BE PUT TO SHAME, FOR YOU, O LORD, HELP AND COMFORT ME. GOD’S ABILITY TO COMFORT AND HELP IS UNLIMITED AND PERFECT!
