12:42 It was a night of watching unto the Lord and to be much observed for bringing them out of Egypt; this same night of watching unto the Lord is to be observed by all the Israelites throughout their generations.

12:43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat of it;

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. When we continue to pray, we prevail

"When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed;"

Moses symbolizes any CHRISTian who submits himself to GOD in humility.

James 4:7 (Amplified Bible)

4:7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

Numbers 12:3 (Amplified Bible)

12:3 Now the man Moses was very meek (gentle, kind, and humble) or above all the men on the face of the earth.

Jeremiah 20:11 (Amplified Bible)

20:11 But the Lord is with me as a mighty and terrible One; therefore my persecutors will stumble, and they will not overcome [me]. They will be utterly put to shame, for they will not deal wisely or prosper [in their schemes]; their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten.

1 Peter 4:7 (Amplified Bible)

4:7 But the end and culmination of all things has now come near; keep sound minded and self-restrained and alert therefore for [the practice of] prayer.

In our days, we need self-control because too many cares are bothering us that wants our attention, but focus our attention on JESUS so it's easy for us to pray.

Hebrews 12:2 (Amplified Bible)

12:2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

In the midst of conflict, afflictions and sufferings, learn to be self-controlled and pray continually.

Proverbs 24:10 (New Century Version)

24:10 If you give up when trouble comes, it shows that you are weak.

We never give up praying.

Illustration:

The only offensive weapon in the full armor of GOD is the WORD of GOD and Praying in tongues and all other armors are for our defense.

Ephesians 6:18 (New Century Version)

6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers, asking for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready and never give up. Always pray for all God’s people.

B. When we stop praying, Amalek prevailed

"and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed"

Amalek symbolizes "conflict" and "unprovoked attacks"

Exodus 17:8-13 (Amplified Bible)

17:8 Then came Amalek [descendants of Esau] and fought with Israel at Rephidim.

17:9 And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.

17:10 So Joshua did as Moses said and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the hilltop.

17:11 When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed.
