Summary: Culture tells us that we were created to be entertained. The Word of God says that you were created to worship. (Authentic, Undivided & Holy).
**NOTE TO READER. I introduced this sermon with some of my own memories of being entertained at movies and theme parks which are not included with this manuscript.**
We are living in an age of entertainment. It’s great! Movies are being made with hundreds of millions of dollars being committed to special effects. In fact, some movies effects are so good that you don’t even care about the plot or the character development. It’s all about the effects.
This is the sort of attitude that many of us take to Church without even thinking about it. We want to be entertained. We rate church based on the quality of music, or if the sermon kept us interested and at the very least, awake. Church is all about what you can get out of it, and if you are not entertained, then its time to find a new church.
Here is the hard truth. You were not created to be entertained, You were created to worship.
God wants desires and seeks the worship of his Creation. It is Holy worship that he is looking for. It is authentic worship that He is looking for. He is a jealous God and wants to be #1 in your life and so it is Undivided Worship that He is looking for. And the best part about it is this, he can find that kind of worship in you if you will worship in spirit and in truth.
1. Authentic Worship
Something that is authentic is something that is real. Its not a substitute, its not the next best thing, when something is authentic it is the real deal.
We see Authentic Worship in the Bible as a response to God.

2 The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him!
• Mary was told by the angel that she was going to have a miraculous birth and she hurried to her cousin Elizabeth’s home who was also about to have a miraculous birth. In 9 months Mary would give birth to Jesus Christ and in only 3 months Elizabeth would give birth to John the Baptist. The expectant Mother’s were so excited and grateful to God that Mary broke out into worship.

46 Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.
47 How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
48 For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
49 For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me.
