passage of scripture.

The first point of this passage is…

A. The Desire Of The Servant (v. 9a)

a. Note the Psalmist’s request…

i. “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his

way?” (KJV)

ii. “How can a young man keep his way pure?”

(NIV)

b. Notice the Psalmist’s reason for the request…

i. He wanted his spirit to be changed

ii. He wanted his sin to be cleansed

iii. He wanted his soul to be cured

c. Never forget what the Psalmist’s realized…

i. Because of Satan we are the victims of sin

ii. Because of the Scriptures we have the

vaccine for sin

iii. Because of the Savior we have the victory

over sin

d. What is the desire of your heart…

i. Do you want to be a servant for Christ

B. The Detergent For The Sin (v. 9b)

a. The servants request….

i. “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse

his way?” (KJV)

ii. “How can a young man keep his way pure?”

b. The Savior’s reply…

i. “By taking heed thereto according to thy

word…”

ii. “By living according to your word…”

c. Think about the powerful stain removers of

today…

i. Era

ii. Tide

iii. Clorox Bleach

iv. These products can get many stains out

of our clothes but none of them can get

rid of the stains on the inside of lives

d. There are special stain removers that…

i. Gets the sin of our hands

ii. Gets the sin out of our heads

iii. Gets the sin out of our hearts

e. There are two products you must use to remove

the stain of sin

i. The blood of Christ cleanses our hearts

from sin (1 John 1:7)

ii. The Bible keeps our hearts clean from sin

(John 15:3)

f. Use ‘The Scriptures’ to keep your hearts

clean from the awful stain of sin…

i. Read the scriptures daily

ii. Respond to the scriptures daily

iii. Resist the sin daily

C. The Decision For The Sinner (v. 10)

Master, “With my ‘whole heart’ have I sought

thee…”

i. The Psalmist hears the Master’s message

to clean up his act

iii. The Psalmist heads the Master’s message

to clean out his heart

b. Note the Psalmist’s declaration to the

Master, “With my ‘whole heart’ I will…”

Master, “O let me not wonder from thy

commandments…”

hide the truth in our souls.”

is hidden in the heart the life will be

hidden from sin.”
