Summary: Prayer that gets answered must be used. What are the different kinds of prayer and how do we pray.

Different Kinds of Prayer

We have been in a study of Prayer. I believe that we need to learn how to pray so that we can see results.

Many Christians have prayed for years and cannot tell you for sure that “GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS”.

Everyone prays, Christians pray, sinners pray and heathen pray. I learned how to pray by what I heard the preacher, my parents, radio preachers and anyone else that I thought knew how to reach God.

I was 19 years old when I saw a miracle because of my prayers and I was shocked.

I thought that I had learned the secret of prayer but it was years later before I saw for sure another prayer answered.

We need to learn how to Pray and get Results.

We have talked about Why to Pray and How to Pray and tonight we want to talk about Different Kinds of Prayer.

Eph. 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Here Paul is telling the Church that they should pray with all kind of prayer and also tells them to Pray in the Spirit and to keep on praying for the saints.

THEN he says pray for me so I can be bold. We know Paul was bold because he witnessed to Rulers of Rome, established churches in pagan cities and shook off snakes that bit him, into the fire. I THINK HE WAS ALREADY BOLD.

He wanted to make known the mystery of the gospel and He wrote most of the New Testament.

IF HE NEEDED PRAYER, HOW MUCH MORE DO I NEED PRAYER.

PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR.

Different Kind of Prayer.

18 Praying always with all prayer.

The prayer Paul was asking for was a Supplication Prayer.

There are Agreement Prayers, Consecration and Dedication Prayers, Prayer of Faith Prayers, Intercession Prayers, Thanksgiving Prayers and many other kinds.

Many Christians think Prayer is Prayer.

God set up prayer and He set up rules of Prayer. There is a right way and a Wrong way to Pray.

Just as there are different rules for Sports there are different rules of Prayer. If you play Basketball with Football rules you will not win. If you play Baseball with Hockey rules you will not get a Hit. If you pray a Thanksgiving Prayer to get Healing it will not work.

God set the rules and we find His Rules in the WORD OF GOD.

I want to look at three different king of Prayers.

Prayer of Agreement.

Matt. 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

This is a Prayer for a Situation.

If you have a family member that is dealing you misery. You can find someone that will agree with you JESUS SAID ASK THE FATHER AND HE WOULD DO IT.

You need to find someone that will pray.

Lev. 26:8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

Ec 4:12 a threefold cord is not quickly broken

There is power in Unity.

FIND SOMEONE TO AGREE WITH YOU.

Prayer of Faith

James 5:13 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Here is the Prayer of Faith.

There are rules of Prayer of Faith.

Afflicted Let the Afflicted pray for Himself.

Afflictions are Trials, hardships, tribulations

Everybody has them.

Ps 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Teach us to rely on God

Ps. 119:67 Ps 119:67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

Paul tells us to Pray for our self.

Prayer for the sick: let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
