Summary: This is a sermon for the Sunday after we turn out clocks forward or backward 1 hour.
Does God Have A Clock?
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.
For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
A man is at Grand Central Station
waiting for his train that leaves at 6 p.m.,
but he has forgotten his watch.
So he looks for someone to ask the time.
He spots a guy carrying two suitcases
and wearing this fabulous hi-tech watch,
so he asks him for the time and the guy replies:
“Sure, which country?”
So he asks, “How many countries have you got?”
The guy replies, “All the countries in the world!”
Wow! That’s a pretty cool watch you’ve got there.
The guy says, “That’s nothing, this watch also has GPS,
fax, e-mail and can even receive television channels
and display them on its miniature color screen!
Boy, that’s incredible. I wish I had a watch like that one.
You wouldn’t consider selling it by any chance?
The guys says, “Well, actually the novelty has worn off for me,
so for $900, if you want it, it’s yours.”
The traveler whips out his checkbook
and hands over a check for $900.
The seller takes off the watch and gives it to him.
“Congratulations, here is you new hi-tech watch.”
Then, handing the two suitcases over as well, he says,
“And here are the batteries.”
A 12-year-old boy stood patiently beside the counter
where all kinds of clocks were on display
while the store clerk waited on all of the adult customers first.
Finally he got around to the youngster,
who made his purchase and hurried out
to where his father was impatiently waiting in his car.
“What took you so long, son?” he asked.
The man waited on everybody in the store before me,
but I got even.
“How?” asked his father.
The youngster explained happily:
“I wound and set all the alarm clocks while I was waiting.
It’s going to be fun at eight o’clock”.
Last night we turned our clocks forward 1 hour
to officially begin Daylight Savings Time.
Today, I’m going to preach a sermon about clocks.
Turn around and look at the clock on the wall.
What time is it??
It is Sunday at 10:___ and you chose to be at church.
We have clocks and calendars to plan our lives!
