Summary: when you move with God you cannot fail, when you move without God you cannot win. There is a time to be still, but there is a time for making a move,
Multitudes of feeble folk surrounded that pool waiting for the moving of the water.
Here was a multitude of people that testified by their very presence that they were in need of something there, that they couldnt get anywhere else.
Were gathered in this place today as they were then.
Our very presence here is a revelation of the fact that we need something that we cant find anywhere else.
Its not in a bottle, its not in a pill, and its not in drugs or sex, or money
The doctor cant do it for you; you wont find it in motorcycles, boats, or sports.
What we need is nothing less than the supernatural presence and power of the living God.
I know sometimes its hard to come to the place where were ready to admit our desperation and our impotency.
But here I am today admitting that Im no different than the multitude gathered at that pool.
Im impotent, Im powerless, and Im helpless, Without his touch Im nothing.
Without his anointing I can do nothing.
And I found out that one of the greatest keys to that touch and that anointing is learning how to wait on God.
God doesnt operate on my timetable, so I have to wait on him.
Ps 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
Ps 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
La 3:25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
Lu 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
When I come before God in prayer and I get quiet before him and I just wait. Im admitting to God Im powerless without you.
Im impotent without you.
I cant even walk without you holding my hand.
But you have to realize there is a time for waiting and there is a time for stepping.
A lot of people sit around on their hands excusing their fear, their doubt and their laziness by saying (Im just waiting on God).
Theres a time for waiting and there is a time for moving.
2 Sa 5:18 David was anointed to be king, when the philistines heard about it they all came to fight with David.
David enquired of the Lord, shall I go up and will you deliver them into my hand, God said go up, David did and won a great victory.
A short time later the philistines came back, David again enquires of the Lord, and the Lord says go up, I will give you the victory, again David wins a great victory.
Then a Third time the Philistines come up against David.
Most people would have assumed that God was with them based upon past victories and rush into battle.
But David understood the need to get Gods Help and Gods direction.
When David enquires, God tells him 23 And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
