Elevation

2 Kings 2: 13-15

13 He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. 14 Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.

15 Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

Introduction

Before most of us can transition, shift, move or be promoted to another dimension in someone else’s spot, someone has to be placed in a more superior rank than those that are waiting to be promoted or someone has to die. As many of us we want a promotion, one issue is we want it from someone that can promote us from a lateral level (Someone on the side of us) not people above us. Moreover, we don’t want the pain that comes with the promotion. Every promotion comes with pain and pressure. You have to bare in mind that Elijah is the 1st prophet and there is much to do to put on his shoes. I have learned over the years that we have to trust the timing of God not the promises of people. This next shift is not up to people who have closed doors it’s up to God to open the doors people can’t close and close the doors people can’t open. I know now it’s not on me it’s on God….

The Text Brings Four Thing to Mind:

1. The Mentor (Elijah)

2. The Mentee (Elisha)

3. The Mention (The Words of the Sons of The Prophets)

4. The Mantle

Elijah - The 1st Prophet

Elisha - Wants to be his successor (1st Son to carry the Ministry)

For any mantle that has fallen there has to be a decision made if you are going to:

1. Pick it up

2. Put it on

3. Take what comes with it

Elijah's ministry was one of great power, but also of great pressure and responsibility.

Elevation is promotion where the assignment is, to position others for their assignments, promotion is the qualified stage for being positioned in assignment.

The promoted one is the one who has managed w/humility the season or the stage (platform).

Elevation is already promotion; promotion is the discovery of the assignment.

Elevation is the prerequisite (requirement) for promotion; you can’t be promoted if someone is not elevated!! If I don’t go up then you don’t go up.

Elevation is about mentoring people in there place of greatness with out controlling the outcome. The outcome is the mantle of the one that is elevated.

The mantle that you receive is contingent upon you staying connected to someone that is being or has been elevated (Lifted Up).

Psalms 75:6 promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south
