Empowered By the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) 8But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be £witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2:1 - 4 (NKJV) 1When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all £with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

We live in a world obsessed power: political power, military power, racial power, monetary power etc. However, God has an overcoming, victorious power available to every believer through presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

In the midst of the darkness that surrounds our world God has given His people us a light to enlighten our world to make known the greatness of His power and might. The same overcoming power that was given to the early church is available to us as we obediently submit ourselves to guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit.

1 John 1:5 - 7 (NKJV) 5This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

God Has Given Us:

Power – To live a Godly life.

Titus 2:11 - 13 (NKJV) 11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Power-To Overcome and witness.

Revelation 12:11 (NKJV) 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

God wants to have a testimony of His saving and keeping people just as it is recorded in Revelations 12:11

Power- To receive boldness, to live fearlessly in fearful times.

We are living in some of the most fearful times in the history of the world. End times events foretold throughout the scriptures are being fulfilled before our very eyes. Worldwide threats of diseases, economic collapse, terrorism; and the list goes on. However, we have the promise of God and enabling power of the Holy Spirit to take us through just as the Christians of the New Testament did.

1 John 4:17 - 18 (NKJV) 17Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Acts 4:13 (NKJV) 13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:28 - 31 (NKJV) 28to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. 29Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” 31And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Power-To be more than conquerors.

Rom 8:31 - 39 (NKJV) 31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”£ 37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
