Summary: Is the end of the world really coming and how do we handle it?
Based on the calendar we use, in a few hours we will be celebrating the end of a year and welcoming a new one!
Now, according to the Mayan Calendar, what is supposed to happen in our year 2012??
Do you really believe that the end of the world is supposed to happen sometime next year? You know, I found out what really happened…… show picture….
Now, if you do some research, you will actually find that this cartoon is not too far from the truth. You see, the basic truth is the Mayan Calendar simply ends next year! Many, mainly “New Agers”, take this end of the Mayan Calendar to mean the end of the world. They also know that most calendars, even the Mayan Calendar, are based on astronomy (what the sun, moon, and planets are doing). They note that there are crazy things actually happening in astronomy today; and they are right in this matter.
Here are some examples of odd astronomy happenings:
- Massive Solar Flares occur every 500 years
Astronomers believe that we are long overdue for a massive Solar Flare which can burn the earth.
- large comets and asteroids come close to hitting earth
- there are actually millions of collapsed stars in our galaxy
These collapsed stars can turn into “black holes” which can end up near earth and pull us in to nothing!
Collapsed stars can also collide and create energy 10 quadrillion times than our sun. When that happens, one can enjoy a suntan for about a microsecond.
The ending of the Mayan Calendar fits with the crazy things happening in our galaxy and so the end of the world can happen in 2012!
I will of course end this message with what the Bible says about the end of the world. But besides what our galaxy is doing and what the Bible says, what other possible events could end our world??
- extreme weather disasters
- massive earthquakes
- super diseases
- chemical poisons
- wars (over 22000 nuclear warheads; 8000 are active pointing at someone)
And so, based on these other possible disasters, our world could end in 2012.
Aren’t you glad you came to church today to hear all this good news? I hope you had some nice Christmas presents! I hope 2011 was good to you!
But seriously, if you don’t believe in God and the Bible, there really isn’t much good news for you. Even our society today is bad news with all the crimes, financial crises, and political unrests.
As a new year approaches, one of the challenges I have for you is to truly believe in God and the Bible; otherwise, there’s no real good news for you.
Truly believe in God and the Bible! Pray often! Read and understand the Bible everyday! Contact me if you don’t know what to read.
Now, what does the Bible say about the end of the world?
Three basic things about the future from the Bible:
1. The World, as we know it, will end
2. Jesus Christ will return to earth
3. Rapture will happen
There are many truths in the Bible which states that the world as we know it will end! Open your Bibles to Matthew 24:6-7…………
Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.
