Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. - John 17:3

Christianity is not about doing, trying or making one’s self better but it’s about knowing a person. In the busyness of religious fervour many lose sight of the most important principles of Christian belief that is having an intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We can know many things in Christian belief and doctrine but do we know the actual person of the Gospel? Are we on clear intimate speaking terms with Jesus Christ or are we always striving to do things for Him? Personally, I have had times where certain good ideas in ministry took my attention and I lost focus with my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is like saying: “No Lord, I am too busy for you right now can’t you see I am doing your work?” What folly when we have eyes to see. Our Lord is the most important always and anything done in ministry is always much less important.

Losing sight of Jesus Christ in intimate relationship is a scary place. We start to find ourselves doing many things to fill that void of the peace of God that is there when we are in right relationship and connection with Him. Sadly no ministry work, effort or attempt will give the solace that a simple abiding relationship with the Lord will. We can so easily turn from knowing Him into striving to please Him apart from connect with the Lord. This not only will leave us barren, dry, and sad but also grieves the Lord who desires us to walk with Him. Our Lord says that eternal life is knowing God. It is not studying God, or doing things in the name of God but knowing God and His Son Jesus in relationship. Talk with him today. He will embrace you with open arms.
