On Saturday Oct. 23, 2004, our church had a graduation ceremony for some believers who had completed a Foundation Series Bible Study Course. This was coupled with the baptism of some new Christians. I was asked to preach a ten-minute sermon. I combined the undermentioned scriptures and sayings and used it to dramatise/recite “Extolling The Name of Jesus”. I pray that someone searching sermoncentral will find it useful.

EXTOLLING THE NAME OF JESUS
1. HE WAS INVOLVED IN CREATION
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God; 3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory
COL 1
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; 16 for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

THE LAMB OF GOD THAT TAKEST AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD

JEHOVAH JIREH, THE LORD OUR PROVIDER
JEHOVAH RAPHA, THE LORD OUR HEALER
JEHOVAH NISSI, THE LORD OUR BANNER
EL SHADDAI, GOD ALMIGHTY
6. HE IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH

18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginninG and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

WEARY- REST
SICK- GREAT PHYSICIAN
LOST- CAPTAIN OF SALVATION
8. HE WAS SLAIN FOR US:
4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
