VIII. MAIN BODY:

Judges 2:13 (Amplified Bible)

And they forsook the Lord and served Baal [the god worshiped by the Canaanites] and the Ashtaroth [female deities such as Ashtoreth and Asherah].

Judges 2:13 (King James Version)

And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

A. They forsake the LORD

"And they forsook the Lord"

Forsook or "azab" in Hebrew word meaning: to loosen, relinquish, permit, commit self, fail, fortify, help, leave. Forsaking the LORD means you are committing yourself to another. You can't be at the middle, there's always a choice. The ALEPH-TAV, the BEGINNING and the END, the FIRST and the LAST, the ALPHA and OMEGA placed His signature after the word "forsook" giving it special meaning. The LORD JESUS Himself was the One forsaken by the Israelites.

John 1:11 (Amplified Bible)

He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own—His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him.

John 8:42 (Amplified Bible)

Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me and respect Me and welcome Me gladly, for I proceeded (came forth) from God [out of His very presence]. I did not even come on My own authority or of My own accord (as self-appointed); but He sent Me.

1 Corinthians 10:20-22 (Amplified Bible)

No, I am suggesting that what the pagans sacrifice they offer [in effect] to demons (to evil spiritual powers) and not to God [at all]. I do not want you to fellowship and be partners with diabolical spirits [by eating at their feasts].

You cannot drink the Lord’s cup and the demons’ cup. You cannot partake of the Lord’s table and the demons’ table.

Shall we thus provoke the Lord to jealousy and anger and indignation? Are we stronger than He [that we should defy Him]?

The creation rejected the LORD JESUS in their hearts, though they were created by the very One that they rejected. The people have loosen their grip and embrace on the LORD JESUS CHRIST and embraced another gods instead.

B. They served baal and ashtaroth

"and served Baal [the god worshiped by the Canaanites] and the Ashtaroth [female deities such as Ashtoreth and Asherah]"

Psalms 106:36 (Amplified Bible)

And served their idols, which were a snare to them.

1 Corinthians 8:5 (Amplified Bible)

For although there may be so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many of them, both of gods and of lords and masters,

Judges 10:6 (Amplified Bible)

And the Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, served the Baals, the Ashtaroth [female deities], the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the Philistines. They forsook the Lord and did not serve Him.

They served male and female version of idols that are not GOD, and even made GOD angrier at them.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You occupy the central place in my heart, You are my Treasure, for I have forsaken all so that I can be Your disciple.
