Free From Sin

MATTHEW 5:17-18

When God gave the Law-

there was no freedom- there was LAW

The law told you how to

act, walk, bathe, dress, eat, speak, pray, …

THERE WAS NO FREEDOM-

Now comes Jesus saying He’s fulfilling the LAW

He didn’t abolish it- HE FULFILLED IT-

He did everything it said to do

So under the law there was not freedom-

But Jesus came that we would be free

So now there’s no more law or RULES

SO HOW CAN GOD GOVERN HIS PEOPLE

Can just be free to do whatever they want?-

I CONTEND YES THEY CAN!

"Where sin does abound, grace much more abounds"

When you take the freedom of the NEW COVENANT- GRACE- no works

Then say, “God saved you- BUT YOU BETTER LIVE YOUR LIFE RIGHT”

You’re mixing the LAW and GRACE

IF your not living your life right- doesn’t make you a sinner- makes you STUPID

But there is no law to tell you how to live- BECAUSE THERE IS NO LAW- It is fulfilled

The new covenant is written on YOUR MINDS AND YOUR HEARTS- Not on tablets of stone

If you’re going to do something wrong-

There should be a HOLY SPIRIT that says---STOP! ---And there is a HS that says that

Do we all obey it- Do we immediately stop the SIN- begin praying in tongues

DO WE?

OF Course not---WHY---NO LAW

You have to grow up---and learn how to listen and RESPOND to the SPIRIT

because there is no LAW----TO TELL YOU HOW TO ACT---

There is a HOLY SPIRIT- the new covenant written within us-That will guide you --IF YOU’LL LISTEN

God doesn’t want you to do right because youhave to--

We should do right- because we get to, want to

We should bear the fruit of the Spirit---GALATIANS 6

If you cant forgive- maybe your not saved….

Can’t Love? - Maybe you need to meet Jesus

Can’t be gentle?- Walk the aisle

God has no law to govern sin----

RELIGION HAS CREATED SOME THOUGH

DENOMINATIONS HAVE CREATED SOME

Look I can make up laws- to make you act good

That’s all most preachers want----- people to ACT GOOD

That’s the problem----

THEYRE JUST ACTING-----IT”S AN ACT

I want you to work out your own salvation----

I don’t want you to ACT

I want YOU TO KNOW----

IF you embarrass me while you’re working on it----OK

Paul says in 1 Cor. 4:21- “what do you want? Do you want to come with a rod or in love and a gentle spirit?”

Paul’s saying, “I can put you back under the LAW- or I can love you till you figure out how freedom works.”

Collasians 3:5-11

He says- “you need to put off all of this stuff”

They were saved- they hadn’t put it off yet

HE couldn’t make them-----WHY----THERE IS NO LAW

VS12-16----They were saved and they hadn’t done any of this yet either

But he says, “YOU NEED TO PUT THIS STUFF ON”

He couldn’t make them----Why----THERE IS NO LAW

It’s clear that it’s up to us.

WE EITHER PUT IT OFF OR ON

Church I can’t make you put this on, any more than Paul could---

I can tell you –you need to ---But I can’t make you

THERE IS NO LAW---THERE IS ONLY FREEDOM

I can either love you and teach freedom- from sin NOT to sin

Or I can be religious and make up some laws so you act right

Galatians 5:13-15

Paul says you have been called to FREEDOM

Don’t use your freedom to FULFILL THE FLESH

CAN YOU use freedom to fulfill the flesh?---

If you couldn’t I doubt Paul would address it

Use your freedom for Spirit---Not for THE FLESH

Though you have the freedom to use it for either--MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE

Romans 6:6-20

Yes where sin abounds, grace does much more abound

God didn’t save you TO sin----

HE SAVED YOU FROM SIN

If Christ died to set you free-

And it is for freedom that HE MADE US FREE

John 8:34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

Do You really think He wants you to be a slave to sin?

Did he set you free to be a slave?

HE HAS SET US FREE FROM SIN......NOT TO SIN
