Fulfilling Our Destiny

I. Before we can begin to fulfill our destiny we must be in right relationship with God.

a. Salvation is more than Mental acknowledgement.

i. James 2:19 “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

ii. Demons won’t be in heaven.

b. Salvation is a head & heart in agreement.

i. Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

ii. So in order to begin to fulfill our destiny we’ve got to go beyond just head knowledge of who Christ is, to having a relationship with Him.

II. How do we know if we’re called at all to do anything for God?

a. Everyone is called to bear fruit.

i. John 15:2 “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” KJV

ii. John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” KJV

iii. If you are abiding in Christ, the natural result will be that you’re producing fruit.

iv. There’s more to being a Christian than just asking Jesus Christ into your life. We’re called to be active participants in His kingdom.

b. God has Plans for your life.

i. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” KJV

III. How do we know what we should be doing?

a. You need to seek God and ask Him what you should be doing.

i. Acts 9:3-6 “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” KJV

ii. You won’t have a desire to work for Him until you have an encounter with Him.

b. God often will use what we have and then adds to it.

i. Moses

ii. Widow lady at Zarephath

iii. Widow lady and the bill collectors

iv. God took Paul’s zeal and redirected it for His glory.

c. Usually God doesn’t give you the big picture, He gives you one step at a time.

i. It took Paul 14 years after His Damascus road experience before he began his ministry.

ii. Many times you will find the call that God gives you is bigger than your ability.

d. What God calls you to do, he will empower you to do!

i. Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” KJV

ii. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” KJV

IV. How do we walk in that calling?

a. Pray daily

i. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.” KJV

ii. 1 Timothy 2:8 “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” KJV

b. Ask others to pray for you.

i. 1 Thessalonians 5:25 “Brethren, pray for us.”

ii. 2 Thessalonians 3:1 “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:” KJV

c. Study the Word.

i. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” KJV

d. Hang in there during tough times

i. 2 Timothy 2:3 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” KJV

ii. Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” KJV
