E. Main Themes: praise and worship, prayer and praise

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Give thanks, Praise or "yadah" in Hebrew means:

1. to use the hand

2. physically to throw (a stone, or arrow) at or away

3. to revere or worship (with extended hands)

4. to make confession

5. to give thanks (thankfulness)

When you combine all these definitions, we conclude that giving thanks is not a still matter, wherein you don't move with your body. You enter into a stilled, motionless state, that's not about it. That is tradition.

What the bible teaches is when you thank the LORD, "you stretch out your hand towards heaven like throwing a stone or arrow, and with your mouth you declare GOD's goodness and your heart is filled with thankfulness, a heart filled with attitude of gratitude upon GOD's goodness with bowed heads in adoration" Praise or giving thanks to the LORD is very demonstrative.

Well, you might say, I'm a silent-type of a person and I don't show up public display of affection (PDA), well keep your opinion to yourself, if you want to obey the bible, then follow it with all your heart, don't show PDA to your boyfriend, or girlfriend but show PDA to the LORD.

Psalms 28:2 (Amplified Bible)

28:2 Hear the voice of my supplication as I cry to You for help, as I lift up my hands toward Your innermost sanctuary (the Holy of Holies).

Psalms 88:9 (Amplified Bible)

88:9 My eye grows dim because of sorrow and affliction. Lord, I have called daily on You; I have spread forth my hands to You.

Psalms 119:48 (Amplified Bible)

119:48 My hands also will I lift up [in fervent supplication] to Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes.

Psalms 134:2 (Amplified Bible)

134:2 Lift up your hands in holiness and to the sanctuary and bless the Lord [affectionately and gratefully praise Him]!

Psalms 141:2 (Amplified Bible)

141:2 Let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

A. The LORD is good

"O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;"

Good or "tob" in Hebrew meaning:

1. good (as an adjective) used in the widest sense

2. good (as an adverb) described as beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, fair, favour, fine, glad, kindness, most pleasant, precious, prosperity, wealth, welfare, favoured

Only the LORD GOD is Good and no one else because all people have sinned and fell short of GOD's standard of goodness, we're not talking about self-made man's standard of goodness, like when a gay married to another gay, and the other gay died before the other one and the gay left behind said in his funeral, "he's a good man!" and what about you? a good woman?!!" but we all know he's just talking like that to comfort himself with the loss of another man in his life. What a blasphemy?

Romans 3:23 (Amplified Bible)

3:23 Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives.

Romans 3:9 (Amplified Bible)

3:9 Well then, are we [Jews] superior and better off than they? No, not at all. We have already charged that all men, both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles), are under sin [held down by and subject to its power and control].

Well, an atheist might say, "well I believe there's inherent goodness in every man", keep your opinions to yourself, but we want the Bible, what the Bible has to say and teach is not man's opinions, they are GOD's WORDS and they have the final say in everything here on earth and heaven, GOD has the final say, where you go after you die, heaven or hell. ONLY THE LORD GOD IS GOOD.

Romans 3:19 (Amplified Bible)

3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that [the murmurs and excuses of] every mouth may be hushed and all the world may be held accountable to God.
