Summary: Jesus invites the followers to take 'this Bread' into yourself.

John 6:24-35 Give us this bread.

1. The crowds of people want to find Jesus right after he had performed the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000. They are searching for Jesus

• Jesus goes to the others side of the lake and the Crowds are looking for Jesus. Jesus says “Very truly, I tell you,” “you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves” (John 6:24-26).

• The Crowds are motivated to find Jesus for food, from Heaven “Do not work for the food that perishes,” he warns the crowd, “but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you”

2. The Manna in the Wilderness Ex 17:4Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will rain down bread from heaven for you

• The Crowds thought the bread from Heaven came by Moses But Jesus quickly says, “Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven” (vv. 31-32).

• The Crowds soon realized that the bread Jesus gives is different from just Food Jesus says, “For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

• Jesus Bread doesn’t just taste delicious, but it actually gives life to the world. The people say to him, with excitement, “Sir, give us this bread always” (vv. 33-34).

• Jesus tells the folks “I am the bread of life,” “Whoever comes to me will never be hungry” (v. 35). Jesus is saying I am durable, I am sturdy, I am Strong, I am able, I am what you need

• “I am food,” Jesus seems to be saying. “Take me into yourself and you will never be hungry or thirsty or hopeless or powerless. I am the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to anyone in the world — including you.”

3. Jesus tells these folks as He tells us “I am the Bread of Life”

• When Jesus says, “I am the bread of life,” he is saying to us, “I am food.” He is saying,

• “I am the food that brings you forgiveness and new life, They say give us this bread

• I am the food that brings you to health in body, mind and spirit.” Give us this bread

• I am the Food “that endures for eternal life” (John 6: 27), give us this bread.

• I am food the true bread from heaven which “gives life to the world” (vv. 32-33). All we need to do is eat this amazing bread, in faith and thanksgiving. Give us this bread

4. Give us this bread. Remember the scripture in the closing 34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

• Give us this bread, Bread of Faith The crowd said, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom [God] has sent Believe

• Faith Praises God on Sunday but also on Monday and every day. Faith works every day “So faith by itself,” said James, “if it has no works, is dead” (James 2:17). The work of God is that you believe in me, said Jesus, the one “whom [God] has sent” (John 6:29).

• This Bread Jesus offers is Durable as the Bible Matthew 24:13 Jesus says, “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” We hang in there even in challenging situations

• Give us Jesus, this Bread: that feeds not just my body but feeds my soul

• Give us this Bread that gives us life of Hope and a life of Power

• Give us bread that offers ministry where people are, in their messes, in the restaurants, in the laundry mats, in stores, Remember Jesus “Go “into the world (Places) “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit .
