Summary: GOD PROVIDED FOR THE ISRAELITES IN THE WILDERNESS AND JESUS PROVIDES FOR US TODAY

GOD HAS A PLAN: WITH REGARDS TO OUR COMPLAINING!

When things are not the way we want them to be we have a tendency to complain-especially toward the leaders and then toward God.

Exo 16:2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:

They charge Moses with a plan to starve them when he brought them out of Egypt.

Exo 16:3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

They probably did not have great flesh-pots in Egypt, even though there was plenty of food for all-including the slaves.

They also were probably not anywhere near death in the wilderness, since they had their flocks and herds with them.

Yet, God still provides for us:

Exo 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

Exo 16:5 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.

Exo 16:7 And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?

No one says less more loudly than one who murmurs!

When we begin to fret and be uneasy, we should consider that God hears all our murmurings, though silent, and even only the murmurings of the heart.

Joh 6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

Joh 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

Joh 6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Joh 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Joh 6:41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

Joh 6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

Joh 6:48 I am that bread of life.

Joh 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

Joh 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

THE COMPLAINTS STILL DID NOT STOP-THEY FOUND SOMETHING ELSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!

Num 11:10 Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.

These murmurings of theirs reflected great dishonor upon God. They knew that he did his best for them, and that he could not do any thing without a divine appointment.

Moses tells God that He is their “Mother” while Moses is nothing more than their “wet-nurse!”

We must be very careful that our murmurings do not become outright rebellion!

Num 16:41 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.

Num 16:42 And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.
