Summary: This message challenges Christians to examine their behavior and see if they are mocking God.

God Is Not Mocked

Galatians 6:7

Gal 6:7 KJV Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Our text is a scientific law, spiritually speaking. First, Morally, if you sow sin, then you will reap hell.

Second, you cannot reap where you have not sown.

I. “Be not deceived”—We fool ourselves...

We fool ourselves more than we fool Christ:

Mat 22:18 KJV But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? ELABORATE

We fool ourselves more than we fool others:

Mat 7:20 KJV Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. ELABORATE

We fool ourselves but we need to know that pretending does have its rewards:

Mat 6:5 KJV And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. ELABORATE

II. We must realize that we are going to live for eternity...

Idle words register with God:

Mat 12:36 KJV But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. ELABORATE

All will be accountable

Rom 14:12 KJV So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. ELABORATE

Many “treasure up” wrath

Rom 2:5 KJV But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; ELABORATE

I want to show you from the Bible that you do reap what you sow:

III. By example, you reap what you sow...

Israel sowed idolatry and reaped Babylon

Psa 137:1-9 KJV By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. (2) We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

(3) For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. (4) How shall we sing the LORD’S song in a strange land?

(5) If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. (6) If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. (7) Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

(8) O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. (9) Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

Haman’s conspiracy against the Jews reaped the gallows:

Est 7:10 KJV So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified. ELABORATE

Annanias sowed a lie and reaped death:

Act 5:4-5 KJV Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. (5) And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. ELABORATE

IV. “God is not mocked”—Let’s look at some mockeries of God...

Seeking self glory in the church.

Luk 18:11-12 KJV The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. (12) I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. ELABORATE

Professing Christ and Hating others is another mockery of God:

1Jn 4:20 KJV If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? ELABORATE

Trusting riches instead of God is another mockery of God:

Luk 16:23 KJV And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ELABORATE

Gal 6:7 KJV Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Just what are you going to reap. If you are guilty of any of these mockeries, you need to be dealing with God and asking him for forgiveness TODAY.

Lost person, you are making a mockery of the death of Jesus Christ every day you refuse to accept him as Lord and Savior of your life.

Quit mocking God today, whether you are lost or you are saved. Make things right with Him. What you sow, you will reap.

Gal 6:14 KJV But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ”
