Summary: The type of faith God is looking for.

The God kind of Faith

1. Faith Offer an excellent sacrifice (v. 4)

a. Contrary to Mediocracy

b. A sacrifice is when you give up something that makes you totally depended upon God

c. Does your ministry demonstrate the spirit of excellence?

i. If ministry is a sacrifice, does it demonstrate a spirit of excellence?

1. God is looking for a ministry of quality

a. I Cor. 3:13 “each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work”

b. Quality refers to the kind of disciples a church is producing

i. Quality produces quantity

ii. If most of my group members never invite anyone to come to my cell group, what are they saying about the quality of what my cell group offers?

1. Your cell group ministry must offer people something they cannot get anywhere else

2. Faith Delights in God (v. 5)

a. Faith delights in God (v.5)

i. Faith yields delight

1. Why? True faith is more satisfied with God than with the pleasures promised by sin

2. Walk with God because he took pleasure in God

a. His pleasure in God move him to be prophetic for God

i. Jude 14, 15

ii. First preacher recorded in the bible

ii. Delights produces diligence in ministry

b. He walked with God because he took pleasure in God and not in this world

i. Methusalem “When he dies, it shall come”

ii. Present

c. If you are not enjoying the ministry is because you are not enjoy God

3. Faith Takes God serious (v. 7 Noah)

a. 120 year old ministry

i. He devoted his whole life in trying to reach his generation for God

b. People who take God serious are those who take God at his Word

4. Faith Obeys the Calling of God (v. 8)

a. It is does not wait for

i. Perfect conditions

ii. Further confirmation

b. He had nothing to do with the calling, but everything to do with the going

i. Faith moves you to new territory

1. PIONEER SPIRIT- starting your twelve requires a pioneering faith

c. Vance Havner once said, “You have not really learned a commandment until you have obeyed it. . . . The church suffers today from Christians who know volumes more than they practice” [Nelson’s Complete Book of Stories, Illustrations & Quotes, p. 588].

5. Faith Infuses strength to give birth (v.12)

a. Faith gives you the “womb” strength to carry the multitudes

i. lack of strength and motivation is often a sign of a weak faith

ii. In Genesis 18:12 she considered herself “worn out”

6. Faith Declares a future to your people (v.20)

a. NIV “by faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.

b. Isaac declare a future for his sons

i. We need to declare a future to our spiritual sons and daughters

c. Let us start moving in the prophetic

i. Ex. Lemuel in last week’s class

7. Faith Imparts a next generation blessing (v. 21)

a. Isaac virtually repeated the words of the ancient promise first given to Abraham (Gen. 26:4; 28:3-4)

i. You can pass down the blessing of Abraham to the next generation, since you are a child (romans 9:6-8; Gal. 3:7-9, 16, 29; Hebrews 4:28)

8. Faith sees the future of the next generation (v. 22)

a. It is not only declaring, but seeing it

i. V. 22 Joseph made mention of the exodus before they had any idea what was going to happen.

b. See a more excellent thing for them

9. Faith conquers Fears (v. 23)

a. V. 23 broke through the power of intimidation

i. Fear and insecurities will stop you from forming your twelve

b. Just like Moses’ parents, it does what it requires to preserve a soul

10. Faith pays whatever the price

a. V. 24 – it is willing to let go of title, worldly pleasures, and finances

b. It pays the prices for the promised pleasure from God

11. Takes down obstacles

a. V. 30 You will have opposition

b. You may face incredible odds, but God will crush all obstruction and resistance from the enemy

12. Faith guards you from being rebellious and keeps you from judgment (v.31)

a. A rebellious person is not a person of faith
