Summary: We will see God tell Moses that HE is about to unleash the 10th and final plague. One that will take all of the first born of the land. You know with all the people we have lost within just the last year it is good to know that God gives us a chance at

God’s Wrath will Come

Call upon HIS name and find favor

Judgment sure to come

DBF, Sunday Sermon, 9/29/02

I heard recently that a small midwestern community stated they really weren’t affected by the attack of September 11, 2001.

I was amazed and somewhat concerned for the state of heart of that community and its members.

When we in Dillingham, Alaska and all of the villages in Alaska felt the tragedy for the people of New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania.

We identified with the senseless loss of life having lost several community members in their prime within the past year.

We suffered in many senses more that other communities with road systems in that our transportation lifeline was cut off for a significant amount of time, and when it was reinstated the regulations and requirements were a strain on our communities.

It did concern me, but then I started to consider all of the people today who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, yet face tomorrow…or not.

The false impression of safety, of levity, of being in a place that is different or distinct from others that Satan brings into the lives of people who follow after him is alarming. They follow as sheep to the slaughter, because the Day of Judgment approaches with certainty and on that day there will only be two directions in which we may go. Either our names will be found in the Lambs “Book of Life” or we will be cast into the fiery pit for eternity.

Be vigilant, be ready, be aware…these are the only choices available to you and I…there will not be a door Number 3.

Many feel falsely as the Egyptians did in our study today, there will always be tomorrow to rectify our situations and get things right but a great plague will be visited upon them requiring all the firstborn of the land be killed. Many thought they would have tomorrow that day, many in New York and Washington felt they surely had tomorrow, and many today feel that there tomorrow is assured. Be vigilant, only God knows who and what tomorrow may bring…life or death eternal.

Call upon HIS name and find favor

Exodus 11:1-10 (KJV)

And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether. [2] Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold. [3] And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people. [4] And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: [5] And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. [6] And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. [7] But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel. [8] And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger. [9] And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. [10] And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.

We all have limits that we can tolerate, what is yours?

Here God says HE will bring a greater plague than any yet visited upon Egypt that will cause Pharaoh to push the nation out.

It was probably hard for the nation of Israel to imagine something worse that what had already occurred in the mighty acts of God. It may have even been difficult for the Egyptians to think of something that might be worse than what had already been visited upon them…yet God’s word is true and a worse plague was coming.
