Summary: THIS STUDY ADDRESSES FOUR DISTINCTIONS OF GOD'S SHIELD.

GOD’S SHIELD

OBSERVATION: GOD IS A PROMISE KEEPER. HE GAVE ABRAHAM (ABRAM) A VISION PROMISING A SHIELD OF PROTECTION AGAINST HIS ENEMIES IN A FOREIGN LAND. THIS STUDY ADDRESSES FOUR DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF GOD’S SHIELD.

INTERPRETATION: GENESIS 15:1 (NKJV) AFTER THESE THINGS THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME TO ABRAM IN A VISION, SAYING, “DO NOT BE AFRAID, ABRAM, I AM YOUR SHIELD, YOUR EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD. GENESIS 15:1 (THE BOOK) AFTERWARD THE LORD SPOKE TO ABRAM IN A VISION AND SAID TO HIM, “DO NOT BE AFRAID, ABRAM, FOR I WILL PROTECT YOU, AND YOUR REWARD WILL BE GREAT”.

THE LORD STRUCK A COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM. HE PROMISED ISRAEL’S PROTECTION AS THEIR SHIELD AND SWORD DEMONSTRATING HIS POWER AND AUTHORITY. ABRAHAM HAD JUST DEFEATED A HOSTILE CONFEDERATION OF FIVE KINGS: HIS CONCERN WAS RETALIATION.

PSALMS 84:11 (NKJV) FOR THE LORD GOD IS A SUN AND SHIELD; THE LORD WILL GIVE GRACE AND GLORY; NO GOOD THING WILL HE WITHHOLD FROM THOSE WHO WALK UPRIGHTLY.

HIS SHIELD IS OMNIPOTENT. PERPETUAL, DISTINCTIVE AND UNIQUE. EVERY BELIEVER SHOULD EMBRACE GOD’S PROTECTIVE, PRESERVING SHIELD.

APPLICATION: ALL BELIEVERS NEED HIS SHIELD BECAUSE THE WORLD HATES YOU. (F.B. MEYER). JOHN 15:18 (THE BOOK). WHEN THE WORLD HATES YOU, REMEMBER IT HATED ME BEFORE IT HATED YOU!
