Summary: In light of present day moral decline and inappropriate sexual behavior of homosexuality, premarital and extramarital sex, and cohabitation, what is God’s design for human sexuality?
GOD’S DESIGN FOR HUMAN SEXUALITY
INTRODUCTION: Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr., President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, said that the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn a Texas sodomy law will eventually be seen as one of the most profound moral turning points in American history, on par with the Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion on demand. Mohler said "I think we are going to look back to June of 2003 and say that that was when America began to lose all moral sanity on the issue of sexuality. And if you have no moral clarity on sexuality, then eventually, you have not moral clarity on anything." We live in a time of dramatically changing attitudes toward moral standards and norms. In Canada, the Parliament is considering adopting C-415, a bill adding sexual orientation to hate crime’s legislation. If C-415 becomes law in Canada, according to legal experts "the following consequences will result, especially once hate crime charges are brought before the courts":
The Bible, at least certain portions of the Bible, may be declared "hate literature."
Churches will not be able to mention certain Scriptures.
Clergy may be subjected to criminal charges if they refuse to marry homosexuals.
Parents may be subjected to criminal charges if they refuse to allow their children to attend classes that teach about and promote homosexual behavior.
Expressing disagreement with homosexual behavior or the homosexual agenda, either verbally or in writing, would be considered hate propaganda.
Educators, including those at private religious schools, will not be able to refuse to teach homosexual curriculum.
Religious institutions will not be allowed to teach anything non-supportive of homosexual sex.
In the United States attempts to influence our society into normalizing abnormal or deviate behavior are relentless. Television and radio programs, advertising and legislation promoting the abandonment and surrender of moral standards abound. According to the 2000 Census, there are currently about 11 million people living with an unmarried partner in the U.S. Only one-quarter of American households consist of what most people think of as a "traditional family": a married couple and their children. – ("The Emerging 21st Century Family," National Opinion Research Center, University of Chicago, 1999). Premarital, extramarital, and same sex relationships are being touted as normal. What is alarming is how many have either bought into this lie or are tolerant of these views and refuse to speak out for fear of being politically incorrect. These views are a far cry from God’s design for human sexuality. We need to understand that God created us sexual beings with emotions and desires that are good and beautiful when maintained within His design. What exactly is His design for us?
I. God designed human sexuality for procreation and pleasure.
A. Genesis 1:27-28 (quickview)  “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."
