God's Great Plan Of Salvation

Romans 10:9-10

We are approaching an election year. The candidates are already campaigning and the debates have begun. They are traveling the country and detailing their plans for the future of our country. Each one of them have "plans"... economic plans, tax plans, insurance plans, and Defense plans. They will tell you that their "plan" will solve all of our problems. The world needs help, but the "plan" will not come from a democrat, a republican or an independent. The plan that the world needs to hear today is not a new one. In fact, it has been in place since "before the foundation of the world".

I am referring to "God's Great Plan of Salvation". This plan is outlined in Romans 10:9-10. It is a simple plan. It is a universal plan. It is the ultimate plan. It is the only plan that will truly solve the problems of men and women all over the world. It is also a proven plan. It has been in place for thousands of years and there are countless souls who will testify that God's plan truly works!

The biggest problem with the politicians of our day is that they promise the world, but they can't find a way to pay for it. Well, God's plan promises you a home in another world and it has already been paid for!! The debt was settled almost 2,000 years ago!! God's plan is free for you, but it cost His only Son His life!!!

Look with me to Romans 10:9-10 as we consider "God's Great Plan Of Salvation". God has always had a way of delivering His plan to mankind. In the past He has spoken directly to men. He has spoken through Angels, Prophets, Apostles and Preachers. He speaks us through His Holy Word...the Bible. He speaks through the conviction of His Holy Spirit. Today He uses His people...The Church to deliver this message to a lost and dying world. God's desire is that lost men and women would hear His plan and be saved from their sins. Romans 10:9-10 tells us exactly how salvation is possible.

- I would like to take a moment and consider:

I. The Purpose Of God's Plan - The purpose of God's plan of salvation is described in the phrase - "thou shalt be saved". God had a plan in sending His only Son to the earth. His plan was not to bring us prosperity. His plan was not intended to bring peace on earth. His plan was not to make you happy. His plan was not to make the world a better place.

God's plan is recorded in - John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

When Jesus came He came with a plan. He didn't come to promote preachers. He didn't come to build big buildings. He didn't come to start a bunch of programs. He didn't come to bring physical healing. He didn't come to draw large crowds. He told us why He came in - Matthew 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

We tend to judge a church's success by how large the crowd is on Sunday. But Jesus wasn't concerned with buildings full of people... (He still isn't) Jesus is the One that would leave 99 sheep in order to go out and rescue the one that was lost!! (Matthew 18:12-13). The purpose of the plan was so specific and so intimate that Jesus would have came and done it all JUST TO SAVE YOU!!! YOU ARE THE PURPOSE OF THE PLAN!!!

We've been doing a lot of studying about being consistent servants and this message really spoke to me about that. Thanks for sharing it brother -- I will definitely use some of the highlights from this one.
