To discredit good works as means to salvation.

IV. TEXT:

Titus 2:11-12 (MKJV)

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

Tit 2:12 teaching us that having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live discreetly, righteously and godly, in this present world,

V. THESIS:

We are saved by Grace not of good works.

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Apostle Paul (Titus 1:1)

Tit 1:1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ (according to the faith of God's elect, in the acknowledging of the truth which is according to godliness

B. Intended Audience or Intended Reader: Titus (Titus 1:4)

Titus is either a minister, bishop or overseer. (Titus 1:7)

Tit 1:4 to Titus, a true child according to our common faith. Grace mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

Tit 1:7 For an overseer must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not full of passion, not given to wine, not quarrelsome, not greedy for ill gain;

C. Time of Writing: AD 63

D. Place of Writing: Island of Crete (Titus 1:5)

Tit 1:5 For this cause I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed you,

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Good Works Lessons:

1. God revealed His Grace to save people.

2. This Grace helped us to turn away from sinful and crooked lives/ways.

3. Effects Of Grace:

a. We can live discreetly.

b. We can live righteously.

c. We can live godly even in these times

IX. CONCLUSION:

Grace saves all men not by good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,

Challenge:

Take advantage of God's Grace to live godly lives.
