Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 1:3

This verse is very encouraging to look at. It was written to a troubled group of Christians where a case of immorality happened as well as other selfish ambitions and spiritual issues were taking place. You would think right away there would be a rebuke or strong correction. But the apostle paul shares the heart of our Lord dealing with the believers as children with love. He expresses that the grace of God and peace of God would be with them. It reminds me of house churches in China that when people sit down the speaker says: be seated in peace.

The human spirit needs grace and peace to survive. With rules and religious laws the spirit crumbles under the pressure without the freedom of grace. Grace not only has mercy on our failings but equips and strengthens us to overcome. Peace from God comes as we rest in his grace and realize that we cannot earn ourselves great favour in his sight but that was accomplished by his son on the cross. Think of it today, you are a child of God and his grace and peace are yours!
