Summary: Do we acknowledge we can fall in habitual and dangerous mood patterns. We can change if we so desire. Or we can stay the same. Daniel warned the King, you better change.

HABITUAL OR ADDICTIVE MOOD PATTERNS?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

ACCEPT THE WARNING: CHANGE YOUR MOOD...

KING YOU BETTER CHANGE...

Daniel 4:25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts

of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the

dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth

in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

Daniel 4:27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy

sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a

lengthening of thy tranquillity.

REFUSUAL TO CHANGE?

Daniel 4:31While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying,

O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field:

they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou

know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men,

and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were

grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

TEXT:

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount

up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

HUMAN BEINGS MAKE A CHOICE?

OUR CHOICES ESTABLISH HABITS?

WE ARE HABITUAL BEINGS AND WE RE-ENFORCE OUR HABITS BY REPETETION.

Our daily menial choices become the NORMAL OR NORM OF BEHAVIOR.

We repeat a behavior so often and in such a regular method, the repeated way take root.

We understand the need to use drugs or smoke cigarettes?

But we refuse to acknowledge the SETTLED TENDANCY OF USUAL BEHAVIOR.

WE ACQUIRE THIS MODE OF BEHAVIOR UNTIL it becomes nearly or completely

INVOLUNTARY...

Call it what we may but it can become addictive.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT?

WE FIND THAT TO PRACTICE A BAD HABIT, WE BECOME SO GOOD AT THE BAD

THAT WE ACCEPT IT AS THE NORM.

ADDICTIVE MEANS TO CAUSE A STRONG OR HARMFUL NEED TO DO REGULARLY...

THIS BEHAVIOR BECOMES THE NORM SO MUCH THAT WE MUST ENJOY THE WAY

OF DOING IT BECAUSE WE HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN...

WHAT DOES MOOD MEAN?

A CONSCIOUS STATE OF MIND OR PREDOMINANT FEELING OR EMOTION...

I WAS TALKING WITH A COUPLE IN MY OFFICE. The husband was crying.

The wife was in a fit of rage... I asked him something and she SCREAMED AT ME...

I GOT UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BED THIS MORNING.

I replied to him: YOU SHOULD NAIL THAT SIDE OF THE BED TO THE WALL.

MOOD: a state of mind with words and behavior behind...

Emotions that tend to become fixed, influence your outlook for hours or days...

IRRITABLE, ANGER, DEPRESSION...

I could not help them, she would not acknowledge they had a problem.

A FIT OF ANGER...

A prevailing attitude, predisposed action,

EMOTION=FEELING?

The way YOU REACT, a conscious mental reaction (anger, fear)

HOW DOES ONE GET INTO, OR FIND THEIR MOOD?

1. WE TOTALLY DENY I HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS MOOD?

2. WE TEND TO BLAME SOMEONE ELSE FOR THIS BAD MOOD?

3. WE BLAME OUR PAST... MY MOM OR MY DAD...

4. WE EXCUSE OUR BEHAVIOR AS ACCEPTABLE...

CAN YOU THINK OF SOME PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE THAT HAD BAD ATTITUDES?

1. CAIN

2. TEN BROTHERS OF JOSEPH

3. BAALAM WHIPPING HIS DONKEY

4. SAMSON'S THINKING ABOUT WOMEN

5. NAAMAN GETTING MAD AT THE PREACHER FOR SAYING GO DIP

6. JUDAS SEEMED TO ACCEPT HIS BAD ATTITUDES

7. DEMAS THE QUITTER

8. ALEXANDER THE COPPERSMITH DID GREAT HARM

9. HEROIA'S --- JOHN THE BAPTIST...

BAD MOODS, BAD ATTITUDES SELDOM FIX THEMSELF...

A PROBLEM AREA IS LIKE A FLAT TIRE --- IT CAN NOT FIX IT SELF ---

IT CAN NEVER BE ANY BETTER UNTIL YOU CHANGE IT...

Have you ever seen a little baby with a wet, dirty diaper? The only way to make the baby

happy is change the dirty diaper and feed it some milk.

RECALL THE STORY OF THE WEASIL?

A WEASIL IS A WEASIL?

REMEMBER THE BEAUTIFUL EAGLE SWOOPED DOWN AND GRABBED THE WEASIL

AND STARTED FLYING?

THE EAGLE FELL TO THE GROUND, DEAD!
