Has God Been Faithful?

HAS GOD BEEN FAITHFUL?

As we come to the close of another year, it often serves a purpose for us to look back upon the time that has past and see where we have come from, what have we accomplished, what has God accomplished in us and through us, and where are we going from here. So, as a church, a part of the Body of Christ, that’s what I want us to do this morning.

God is faithful! He is faithful to those that love Him and He is faithful to those that forget Him too. God is faithful to his word, to his promises and to his provision for our every need. As we look back we can only say the same thing that David said so long ago in Psalms 37:25, "I have been young(er), and now am old(er); yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." (Note: I added the (er) for emphasis only)

In the past year there have been some good times and better times. I would like to say that there have been no bad times but I know that in every life there comes the rain and storms because we have not been promised that we would never have trouble. In fact there is another verse that I think we need to remember that is found in Job 14:1, "Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble." That verse flies in the face of those who claim that we will never face trouble if we have enough faith. In actuality, it is those troubles that builds our faith and helps us to grow stronger mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

It is a fact that most Christians don’t really pray hard at all until bad times come. That’s when we really get down to business and begin to get close to the Lord because we know where our only real hope comes from.

We are like David who said in Psalms 121:1-8, I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."

Having said all of that let’s take a look at what has happened in the year that is soon to be over.

1 - Where we have come from?

Most of you know that the church has changed its physical location in the last year. God has seen fit to bless us with a more appropriate, though imperfect, building in which we can gather to worship him and serve one another. Even with all of its imperfections I am grateful that we have a larger facility that is better located and more meets our needs. God has been faithful to Victory Temple PCG. He has kept our financial condition stable, supplied every need and gave us the means to be a blessing to so many people.

At last count we have seen 27 people come to Christ for the first time. That alone is the greatest miracle and the greatest blessing that we could ever ask for. That is the main reason that we exist as a church – to see souls won to the Kingdom of God. Certainly not all of those who were saved have chosen to stay with us. Some have moved on to other churches and, sad to say, some have gone back into the world. At least they have had their opportunity to know Jesus in a greater way than ever before. Regardless of where they go from here, the fact is that Victory Temple and its ministries, and its congregation has done their part to reach out to the lost. I only hope and pray that in the coming year, should Jesus tarry, we will see many more won to Christ and see many more that will not only be saved but will choose to be a part of this church to win others in turn.
