Summary: There are some things that happened while Jesus was three days in the tomb.

He paid it all

Luke 24:1-8

Rev. 1:18

Intro: The fact is, that our Lord is risen…

There are some things that happened while Jesus was three days in the tomb.

The whole life of Jesus is miraculous

His Birth

Jesus has always been.

Gen. 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 1:1-5

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

He resigned his deity to become man…

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Phil. 2:5-11

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

He had to cocoon himself in the flesh of man…

He humbled himself…even to the death of the cross…

Old Testament saints where covered by animals blood…

Their sins were rolled ahead…for one year…

Heb. 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

They died in faith…

But now there was going to be a redeemer…

One that forgives sins

Jesus came as a lamb…to take away the sins of the world…

It was not enough…

To pass by a funeral possession and stop it and raise that little boy back to life and restore him back to his mother…

To stand at the entrance to the tomb of a friend and call Lazarus back to life…

That won’t save you…

To take 5 biscuits and 2 minnows and feed 5,000 men not including their wives or children…then the 12 disciples gather 12 baskets of the scraps…

It was not enough for Him to stop and heal that woman with the issue of blood…

That won’t save you either…

Not enough:

For Him to walk on the water

For Him to cleanse the leaper

For Him to open the eyes of the blind

For Him to set the captives free

That will not save you!!!

What the world was in need of was a Savior…

A Savior that would die on the cross of Calvary…

A Savior that would give his life for a ransom…

A Savior that would shed his blood…

So that our sins could not be rolled ahead but that they would be forgiven…

So that we might stand redeemed in Him…

We needed more than a healer…and healing for our bodies…

We needed more than a miracle worker…

We needed a Savior

One that could die and rise again…

One that was victorious over death, hell and the grave.

Listen friend:

There is not anybody too lost…

Too far gone…

Too much in sin…

That the glorious light of God can’t shine through…

They are not too far on drugs…

Too far on alcohol…

That God can’t save them…

You may look then in the eye and it looks like nobody is at home…but God can still reach them…

1. He went to the cross to buy my salvation…

Isaiah 53:4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

He paid the supreme price for mankind…

He paid it all…

Mt. 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
