Summary: God is Great

Intro: this past week someone asked me if I was related to another Funderburk from South Carolina, my response was, we are all related. As I said that, I knew what my Father’s day message would be. We are all traced back to Adam, and Adam is the father of the human race. But a wonderful verse in the Word of God shows us that the genealogy doesn’t end with Adam, but with God. So, Today, our message is simply this:

HE’S YOUR DADDY TOO

Luke 3:38

Which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God

What an amazing verse: we aren’t Adam’s children, we are God’s. No matter who you are, no matter where you came from, when you trace your family tree to the root, you will find God there.

Why God is your Daddy.

I. Because He wants to talk to you—Jeremiah 33:3

In the beginning God created a lot of good things, but still there was something missing. Then He created man in His own image, in His own likeness.

a. Jesus said, when you pray start by saying, Our Father which art in heaven. God wants to talk to you, is this the most amazing thing you can imagine, that God wants you to talk with Him, and He will answer you, and show you great and mighty things that you don’t know.

b. He will talk to you at any time—the bible teaches that his arms aren’t too short to reach down to you, and that His ears are always open to your cry.

c. The bible teaches that God communed with Adam in the cool of the day, but man’s sin lost that relationship with God. But through Christ, the second Adam, that relationship has been restored, so you can boldly approach the throne of grace.

II. Because He loves you---John 3:16—For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son—the message of the gospel is that He’s your daddy too.

a. He doesn’t want anyone to perish—he wants all to come to everlasting life. God isn’t against you, He is for you. He’s your Daddy too.

b. He loves you with an everlasting love---Jeremiah 31:3—His love never changes, His love will never fail. Great is thy faithfulness O Lord.

c. His love is patient, He waits for you to come home. The story of the prodigal son is God’s love waiting on a rebellious child to come home.

III. Because He is going to bless you—Psalms 68:19—daily loads you with benefits. God is not a respecter of persons, what He does for one, He will do for all

1. with God, we all are the pick of the litter. He is going to bless everyone who calls on His name.

2. If you ask him for a fish, he won’t give you a stone, How much more will your heavenly father give to those that ask of Him.

3. if you being evil can give good gifts, How much more can the heavenly Father give.

IV. Because your life brings Him great joy—Revelation 4:11—and for thy pleasure they are created—thou art worthy o Lord.

a. you are the apple of His eye—of all the creation Genesis 1:31 says, and God said it was very good. God loves you, He wants to give you the desires of your heart.

b. Jesus, the Son of God says this, the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy, but I have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.

Ill) if you are a parent in here there have probably been times

Where you did something with your children that you maybe

Wouldn’t have done except that they were having fun. Years ago

On vacations I would throw coins to the bottom of the pool for

So he could dive down, and bring them back. When He was

Young we would do this for part of a day. Because he enjoyed it,

Enjoyed it. God just enjoys you, your life, your prayers, your

Worship. He enjoys picking you up when you fall down, He

Enjoys you, because you are His.

Close: He isn’t just Adam’s daddy, He’s Your Daddy too. Poem--
