Healing By The Book

Summary: Simple sermon on the Foundation for Healing & patterned examples of Healings. There are some responsibilities on our part for Healing!
“HEALING BY THE BOOK”
This morning we’re focusing on “HEALING!” I noticed the “HEALINGS” that Jesus did and one thing that stood out and was patterned in all of them was “FAITH!” But there are a few other things coupled with "FAITH" that bears looking at!
Scripture tells us in Hebrews 11:6...“WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD!”
So without a doubt we realize that if we are going to experience “HEALINGS” we have to exercise “FAITH!”
Now my sermon is going to be quite simple this morning! Suffice it to say that “HEALINGS” do not always consist of “HEALING” the body or physical. Sometimes “HEALINGS” can and do take place in a “PERSONAL & SPIRITUAL” manner. Even the “HEALINGS” of Churches & situations in Churches! But today we’re focused on the Physical unless God changes direction along with that! (Are we in agreement that if God so chooses to change direction we’re going to follow that direction? Good! I thought so!)
I want to focus on 4 examples of “HEALINGS” this morning then we going to exercise our “FAITH” accordingly! But let me establish a few things first!
Exodus 15:26 we read...“...I AM THE GOD THAT HEALS YOU...”
But do not neglect the whole passage there as well. It is important to apply and understand that as well if you are to expect “HEALINGS!”
Exodus 15:26 in totality reads....
“If you diligently heed to voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight (some translations say...do what I say...), and give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes I will put none of these diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the God that heals you.”
In Mark 5:36 Jesus spoke to Jarius concerning his daughter...
“Don’t be afraid; only BELIEVE.”
I know the fear and anguish of possibly losing a child. I’ve shared the story with you many times about our oldest at 9 months old facing certain death till the Master stepped in and “HEALED!”
I know Jarius’ feelings and emotions at that moment and so did Jesus when He spoke such amazing words of comfort coming for the King of Kings, the Lord or Lords, the Bright Morning Star and the Rose of Sharon when He simply said...
“Don’t be afraid; only BELIEVE.”
HOW POWERFUL IS THAT!!!! I WOULD BELIEVE THAT JESUS COULD BE IF NOT “IS” SPEAKING THE SAME THING TO SOMEONE HERE THIS MORNING!
“Don’t be afraid; only BELIEVE.”
In Matthew 15:26 Jesus spoke to the Gentile woman who was pleading for Jesus to “HEAL” her son, who was demon possessed. Then Jesus said to her...
“It is not good to take the Children’s Bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
But she persisted saying, “Yes, Lord, but even the little dogs eat of the bread crumbs which fall from their master’s table.”
How powerful her argument was. Jesus answered her petition but notice something very powerful here in what He said about “HEALING!” He spoke that it was the “...CHILDREN’S BREAD...”
FOLK, “HEALING IS THE CHILDREN’S BREAD!”
“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, pleading with Him, saying, Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented. And Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him. The centurion
answer and said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one go and he goes, and
to another come and he comes and to my servant do this and he does it. When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, Assuredly, I say to you. I have not found such great FAITH, not even in Israel!”
The Centurion understood the “AUTHORITY OF THE SPOKEN WORD!” But Jesus recognized his “FAITH” by virtue of his understanding of the “AUTHORITY OF THE SPOKEN WORD” by the Son of God!
Do you understand the “AUTHORITY OF THE SPOKEN WORD?” The word we’ve read is that “HE IS THE GOD THAT HEALS!”
II. Matthew 5:25-34....
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, If only I may touch the hem of His garment I will be made well. #34. And He said to her, Daughter, your FAITH has made you well. Go in peace and be HEALED of your affliction.”
She stepped out on “FAITH” without hearing a sermon, a "BOLD FAITH" without anybody’s encouragement, without asking for “HEALING”, she just acted on her own “FAITH!” I have not doubt that God loves "BOLDNESS" in His people. We have ever reason to be "BOLD" we are the Children of the Living God! "BOLD FAITH" moves the heart of God because it shows to all in whom we have based our "FAITH IN!"
