Jeremiah 22:29

It is expressive of deep grief: O Absalom, O Jerusalem Matthew 23:37

II. The Repetition

Earth, Earth, Earth

Expresses deep concern

How great the danger

Under condemnation, in darkness, bondage, misery, outer darkness, etc

III. The Condescension

The High and Lofty One Comes to earth to save

IV. The Limitation “Earth”

Men, not angels - Earth, not hell - Time, not eternity

V. The Implication

“Earth” as a reminder

Of out native origin

Of our true nature not only fro, but of the earth; every member of our dodies

Of the source of our supplies

Of the earthly state of our minds; man’s pleasures, honors, desires - are all earhly

Of our tendency - “Dust thou art”, etc

VI The Specification

“The word of the Lord”

Here there can be no mistaking; it is the word of the Lord; contains the revealed will of God’ bears the impress of Divinity; is possessed of Divine energy. Hensce pierces, alarms,convinces, converts; produces Diving changes; civilizes, moralizes and sanctifies.

VII. The Exhortation “Hear”

Hear it with carefulness, with self application, and in faith.

Hear it and be enlightened, forgiven, regenerated.
