Summary: Defining the church as the ’we’ in Hebrews

  Study Tools

Hebrews 2:1-4 (NLT)

1 So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

2 The message God delivered through angels has always proved true, and the people were punished for every violation of the law and every act of disobedience.

3 What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself? It was passed on to us by those who heard him speak,

4 and God verified the message by signs and wonders and various miracles and by giving gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose to do so.

FIRST COMMAND: Declaration of God’s Glory in Chapter ONE

• WE - the church - who is the church?

• LISTEN - Why should we listen? How should we listen… CAREFULLY to WHAT?

WHO do you listen to?

• WHAT we have HEARD - or what?

KEEP listening - working out our salvation - no

• DRIFT AWAY

Christian - Regards CHRIST as SUPREME; of Great Value; Highest Regard - as KING

NON- Christian - loves the idea, belief, etc of Christ, but never has TRUTH

PASSION: Passion requires PAIN

PURPOSE: SATISFIED with GOD

PLEASURE: GOD’S Pleasure in sense….

Drift Away = Destruction = Non-Christian

NEGLECT - INDIFFERENT - Take for Granted… Your LOVE by your CHANGED HEART

Hebrews ONE gives us HOPE for CHRIST as KING
