Jesus, the Man

Hebrews 2:5-9

5 And furthermore, the future world we are talking about will not be controlled by angels. 6 For somewhere in the Scriptures it says,

"What is man that you should think of him,

and the son of man that you should care for him?

7 For a little while you made him lower than the angels,

and you crowned him with glory and honor.

8 You gave him authority over all things."

Now when it says "all things," it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all of this happen. 9 What we do see is Jesus, who "for a little while was made lower than the angels" and now is "crowned with glory and honor" because he suffered death for us. Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone in all the world. 10 And it was only right that God—who made everything and for whom everything was made—should bring his many children into glory. Through the suffering of Jesus, God made him a perfect leader, one fit to bring them into their salvation.

Human beings? Who are we? What are we? Why are we? (CREATION)

Let’s look at MAN V 5-6 PSALM 8:4-6

Man was created: A little lower than the angels

Man was given dominion over creation

Man was given eternal life with God

Man was given rule with Christ! Privileges far ABOVE angels

Man FELL and no longer had these rights…

Man became a SLAVE to SIN!

So why Jesus and How Jesus a MAN?

Philippians 2:6-7 (NLT)

6 Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God.

7 He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.

GOD BECAME MAN but was ALL man and ALL GOD: KENOSIS (joining of these natures is Hypostatic Union)

HOW: 1- by VEILING His Glory (Ref Moses, et al)

2 - by ACCEPTING limitations to His human nature (Hunger, pain, fatigue etc.)

3 - by voluntarily giving up independent use of comparative attributes.

OMNISCIENCE (All knowing)

Omnipresence (Everywhere)

Omnipotence (All powerful)

**He RESTRICTED independent use of attributes but SURRENDERED NO Attributes of Deity!

JC the MAN - HE was ALL man and ALL God (God-man) WHY? VERSE 9!

…so He could suffer and die

…so He could restore the dominion of mankind

OVER the FISH - Luke 5:4

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is deeper and let down your nets, and you will catch many fish."

Over the FOWL - Luke 22:34 (NLT)

34 But Jesus said, "Peter, let me tell you something. The rooster will not crow tomorrow morning until you have denied three times that you even know me."

Over the Beasts - Mark 1:12-13 (Sat among wild animals in wilderness)

Over the Animals - Mark 11:1-7 (Entry into Jerusalem on Colt)

Over ALL THINGS! VERSE 9!

CHRIST RESTORED ALL THINGS TO US THROUGH HIS GRACE!

Ephesians 1:19-23 (NLT)

19 I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power

20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else in this world or in the world to come.
